Poll: Will PC Darksouls 2 outsell xbox? (31 votes)

Ye 42%
Ne 58%

My friends, I ponder, even though Dark Souls is a console franchise, from Japan. It plays like a pc game. It is hard and thus appeals to the most hardcore gamers (pc). Since the Sony Playstation 3 is very Japan centric, it is doubtful to outsell this version.

However, the xbox? A dude bro console? Will the Pc version outsell out?

No

So if a game is difficult, it automatically means it appeals PC gamers? Just lol...

Dark Souls 2 is primarily a console game, just like the first title, so, no it won't sell better on PC.

#3 Posted by Masculus (2800 posts) -

I doubt it.

Didn't it take Rust one month at the first spot to get to 1 million copies sold?

When I think of PC focused games I think of kb/m. Dark Souls 2 (and the other Souls games) is the last game you want to use a kb/m with. That said, yes I think the PC version will sell better than the 360 version.

#5 Posted by CrownKingArthur (3741 posts) -

i think it will sell very well. i have a 360 but i'm going for the pc version.

will it exceed the 360? not sure. doubt it.

HOLY SHIT you mean the PC which has 500+ million users worldwide a game on it will outsell a console which is only 5 months old? its like mind boggling.

P.S: and no since about 99% of dark souls 2 on pc will be pirates.

#7 Posted by silversix_ (13567 posts) -

No but it will out-pirate it for sure. ZING

A sad truth my friends. Piracy. The bane of pc gaming and the reason no one cares about it.The PC gamer man live in a magical realm in which piracy doesn't effect games and console gaming is worse but reality sadly says "no pc, you are wrong, stop stealing my fucking gamest". And then release it 6 months later. To "improve" it. Hmmm. mmmm.

mmmm. Hm.

I believe you have the Xbone mixed up with the 360.

Dark Souls 2 is not on available on this generation.

Yes the sales will be PS3>>>PC>>>>>360

The only reason the first one didn't sell as well on PC was because it was an extremely late port.. This one is already up on steam I wouldnt be surprised if Steam pre orders were already>>>> 360 sales

#11 Edited by foxhound_fox (86862 posts) -

If it's the clearly superior version and is well-advertised, and goes on sale by 50% in the Steam Summer Sale, I'm sure it'll sell more than both PS3 and 360 combined.

I'm buying it. And I own the PS3 version.

@silversix_:

well the a ton of people already pirated the xbox360 before launch so it might be a while

@uninspiredcup:

I guess your flip flopping troll attempt is probably the only reason keeping your thread relevant.

#14 Posted by Cloud_imperium (1780 posts) -

No . It is primarily a console game so it may not sell better on PC . We may get surprised though . However Witcher 3 on other hand will do better on PC without any doubt because fanbase is much bigger on PC .

#15 Posted by Vaasman (11137 posts) -

No one here is your friend, nor would they ever want to be.

#16 Posted by treedoor (7478 posts) -

It'll sell more than both console versions.

#17 Edited by XboxDone74 (2047 posts) -

Hard to say. Doubt it, since most pc gamers pirate. Ps3 version will sell the most, and is the superior version, since the largest Souls community is an the ps3.

I believe 100% of your stats are made up

and the Xbox 360 has been out longer than 5 months. Think before you type

Hahahahahha... ahahahahaha

On topic, is 360 version doing that bad? I bought the first PC version during a sale, and still couldn't find people to summon or play online with the same day. The game is too hard for PC gamers, stick to facebook farming guys or role playing on broken ass day z.

The PC version will be pirated to hell, a lot of PC gamers are also conditioned to wait for steam sales so that will dampen launch sales, and hackers will kill the community of people that actually do pay for the game at launch. That's why they delayed PC version.

You must be trolling, one of the reasons people choose PC gaming is that there are more challenging games and there is way more competitive/esports gaming.

I have a few buddies who thought this way and after they got wiped on CS:GO, Quake and Dota they quickly changed their mind.

Personally for me Dark Souls was not hard at all its was just tedious.

has a multiplatform game ever sold more on pc other than maybe valve titles?

#26 Posted by nutcrackr (12267 posts) -

Should do much better than the first one on PC, but I doubt it will outsell it because of the fanbase on the consoles.

No one will ever know since most PC gamers buy games digitally and those figures aren't included in sites such as VGChartz.

The last hard copy of a game I bought was Borderlands 5 years ago... I have around 150 games digitally across Steam, Uplay, Gamefly and Origin.

#28 Edited by BattleSpectre (5952 posts) -

What are the current sale figures at? I think the delay the game had will hurt the PC version as most fans couldn't wait and rushed out to get the game on the Xbox/PS. So no to be honest I don't think it'll outsell the console versions, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. PC gaming is growing stronger everyday.

There is no way to know, as digital sales aren't released. But looking at unique visitors lists on modding sites for a game like Skyrim shows it likely out did consoles.

But a better question to this, and even to the OP is, who cares which version sells the most. We know the PC version, like all other multiplats, will be far superior.

I think you'd be surprised my friend. It's very much a favorite of 4chan and many other pop culture websites with hundreds of millions of users. How many of them are actually purchasing the title legitimately is debatable. Well, not really.

If its being sold on Steam, there is a chance. Steam sales and it coming out much closer to its console release than DS 1 probably mean it'l sell at least better then DS 1 did on PC.

DS1 is still selling well on PC. A series like Dark Souls enjoy the digital environment PC has to offer. It grows on word of mouth, not launch hype. Rather than a giant zerg at launch, sales on PC will be spread out over many years.

#34 Edited by GarGx1 (2381 posts) -

Perhaps not initially, consoles games always have a faster take up than multi-plats released on PC but given that Steam will still be selling it in two years time when Xbox 360 and PS3 are no longer being supported at all. Then yes, eventually, the PC version will out sell the 360 and PS3.

#35 Edited by silversix_ (13567 posts) -

What's funny is we're 1 month from PC's release and we have no official pc screenshots (none bullshot crap)

#36 Posted by Butcer2 (59 posts) -

games almost always sell better on consoles then on pc

@uninspiredcup:

I really hate this argument. Console games are pirated just as much as PC games. The major difference between the two is you can go to pirate bay and see the numbers for PC piracy, but to see the numbers for console piracy you would have to go to gray markets around the world and take inventory. The PC market is more advanced and digital, so it is much easier to track. That doesn't mean console piracy doesn't exist, it just means that console pirates use the same archaic methods consoles themselves use to distribute their games.

Most piracy doesn't take place in western industrialized nations. China alone is responsible for most of the world's game piracy, mostly because games were not (may still not be) really legal there. More then a billion people with no legal access pirate the crap out of everything. I really wish people would stop going all ape poopie over piracy, it exists on every platform, and it isn't nearly as big of a money sink as used sales.

its far harder to pirate on consoles , and xbox one and ps4 have not been hacked yet ,
