It's complete BS that news articles flood the internet with headlines like "Wii outsells PS3 6 to 1 in Japan". What's the purpose of this opposed to headlines like: "Wii outsells Xbox 360 15 to 1 in Japan" or "PS3 outsells Xbox 360 2 to 1 in Japan". It just seems very unnecessary and misguided.

The media is sensationalist. MS has never done well in Japan in the past, so the fact that anyone is beating them isn't news. Sony was number one previously in Japan. The fact that anyone is beating them by a factor of 6 to 1 makes for a good sensational story.

yes i think the American Media is giving the 360 a free pass, most the issues on it are not Voiced but everything the competition does wrong or lacks sales it's blown up. but the fact the 360 barley sold 1 million units in 6 months from NPD data in USA shows the 360 to consumers is not that apealing and the Defective Consoles might have alot to do with it.

You have to factor in the PS3 HYPE before launch compared to wii, with people sleeping outside in lines. Its just surprising that its being outsold 6to1, thats all. That why its news, its a surprise.
