Wii is the new Ps2.

Despite all the good publicity Wii is getting its sales are concistent with Ps2, that was riddle with hardware problems(optical reader failure) and lack of blockbuster titles in its infancy.

Do you think this is going to prolong ps2 lifecycle and slow adoption of next-gen consoles? Will or Should Sony relauch the ps2 in 2008 to battle the Wii?

I always thought a " NEW " PS2 would be a higher tech system and a larger library of games?

Oh well - it does come with a $250.00 price tag and a nifty power glove. :P

As long as the wii and ps2 are top sellers, and are the most played consoles, they are current gen to me and others.

Yeah people seem to forget that the PS2 launched with some graphically impressive titles. It was instant "wow this is definetly better looking then the playstation." Does any Wii game do that? No. Not a single one.

As a disappointed Wii owner so far on the software front, I would not hold my breath, especially given the track record of almost every 3rd party game on the Wii ATM.

I am not saying its impossible, but I sure won't believe anything about a 3rd party Wii game until I see the proof.

I can trust the 1st party games, since Nintendo does well by their systems, but I have been massively underwhelmed by the 3rd party games on the Wii thus far.

Yes, its just not much like the ps2. There hasnt been anything like a DS before, its a rather unique system.

actually that's not what i recall when it launched. also ppl were commenting on how the Dreamcast games looked much better.
