Why we don´t have any good Harry Potter games?

Harry Potter was one of the best selling Playstation 1 game of all time. This game sold more than Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear solid and games like that.

Harry Potter games very different on each platform. PS1, PC and Xbox versions were totally different games, and yet gameplay, missions were all interesting and good.

Old first 2 Harry Potter games were free roaming games, it had open world but after goblet of fire, it turned very linear game. It´s like Grand Theft Auto Vice City turns into Final Fantasy 13.

Some PC gameplay:

IGN gave GameCube version 8.9 out of 10.

Same thing happend with James Bond games. Older TPS games were so good but now we have only crappy games. How come that older games were original, it had some great gameplay and freedom, but now we have corridor shooter game, cover shooting, casual and downgraded and rushed?

Im not big fan of Harry Potter movies but old 2 first games were Great. If they could do non movie based Harry Potter game like RPG or something like that, it would be great.

Same reason their isnt any good Twilight games?

Theres been some decent Spiderman games, the Arkham series, a couple of decent LOTR games, a couple of harry potters as you mention but by and large they make for lazy story telling and lazy gameplay. Most of those that are successful borrow the characters and lore only.

The Lego Harry Potter games are good. But I get the feeling the people creating the main HP games nowadays are mere muggles.

Same reason there isn't any good Pirates of the Carribean games.

The LEGO series are good,i played it with my sister.

But we want fully free open world, with different spells, third person and having some new missions. Lego is too easy.

Harry Potter 4-7 were all about corridor shooter. Harry Potter 1-2 open world game, different spells, secrets, unlocks, awesome missions... but after Harry Potter 3 it was all gone. Like i said, Grand Theft Auto Vice City turned into Final Fantasy 13 linear corridor game.

One can Dream ! Its highly unlikely Warner Brothers will let mr. Potter go that easily, especially considering they have an interactive department of their own now.... But I honestly feel like it would be better in Disney Infinity.

Hey I really liked the first 2.

They made one for each movie. I guess they figured that was it.

The second game on Game Boy Color. Not only is a solid game with good RPG mechanics, but actually follows the source material much better than any other version.

Although, the third game on GameCube was pretty fun too.

At least it was at a time when EA was tolerable.

The 3rd wasn't too bad. 4 sucked. So did both 7s. But The 5th and 6th Harry Potter games were also pretty good. Had some free roam and fun collectibles. My favorite is still roaming the castle for secret passage ways and getting all the witches and wizard cards is Chanber of secrets. Best game ever.

Harry Potter is for children, thats why.

The PS1 version still holds up. amazing game. replayed it so many times.

Get that one and Chamber of secrets for the PS2/Gamecube.

The Lego HP games are the only decent Potter games and even those are not THAT good.

This is legit the only real answer.

EA had the license in an era when they did lousy licensed products at the height of those movies releasing, and as such there was no Rocksteady or Starbreeze that really did some meaningful game adaptation of the license. Could there be a great harry potter game? **** yeah, that ip doesn't need to be tied to the movies or even the books necessarily, but it might be awhile before that project ever comes together.

I would argue it's too late to cash in on that now, but I could easily see this medium fishing for a project later. I mean shit, Shenmue is getting a sequel, anything is possible.

I thought it was hilarious when EA tried to turn Harry Potter into a shooter with the last two games.

Eh I think gears of potter was the wrong direction, but using his wands to function in zappy attacks is not exactly ridiculous logic considering he's using a wand.

It's not ridiculous logic to have some shooting stuff in Potter, but they had every spell doing some kind of shooter-like attack, which doesn't mesh with the HP universe whatsoever.

Well, I know Harry Potter gets darker in the last two films, but turning it into a Gears clone was funny to me

You literally had dudes running around using their wands as machines guns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, etc. It's completely absurd as a Harry Potter game.

Yet again, necros aren't cool bros.
