Why is Oblivion hyped so much??

It's not like these games actually have a good record here at Gamespot...

The highest scoring ElderScrolls game here got an 8.7

-The battle system sucks (Yes, I have played morrowind, the highest scoring elder scrolls game)

-The quests are useless and uneventful

-There is no Online Multiplayer

-Really the only thing that you can count on is the graphics

The elder scrolls games have the most borin gameplay ever. So what good is a huge world, with pretty graphics, without a fun gameplay system? It will be fun to see the environments and such for the first day or 2, and then it will be boring.

Well 250 plus hours of gameplay?

1000 differnent NPCs?

16 Square miles of open land to explore?

Beautiful stunning Graphics?

 Oblivion is about creating a a vast, immersive world for you to explore, not about intense combat. Your bashing the game for all the wrong reasons.

And anyways, the combat has been completely redone. It's not going to be Ninja Gaiden quality, but it will be fun and won't detract from the rest of the game, which is all it needs to do.

1. This game would be a lot better if they made it like Diable with an online part, but as far as the game itself not being online its not to bad.

2. The graphics are very nice but graphics don't always make the game, I mean look at mario 3 bad graphics GREAT game. 

3. I have not been through the hole game yet because I had to start over do to a few bugs but it did not seem like there where very many quests... I could be wrong. I did get Knights of Nine in the hope that it will add a lot more quests to it but I will not add it on till im done with the real game first.

4. yes the map is very big but who wants to play a game where all you do is walk around a lot I mean I no there are animals and bandits that will attack you and that you can loot from but still so what about that BIG map and its not like it is even easy to get through most of it from what iv been able to get to is a lot of hills that you have to put on No Cliping to get up.

But as I said as long as you are in towns and doing the quests its not a bad game but they could do some stuff to make it better nothing is perfect after all.

so you have diffrent taste in game nothing wrong with it. i have never played it so i cant comment on it.

It was hyped because the earlier games were great, and the developers had basically claimed that it would be the best/most advanced Elder Scrolls game yet.

They totally lied, of course, and the game failed to live up to the hype.

Well the highest scoring now is Oblivion. Oh and 8.7 is NOT a bad score. :|

- The battle system was flawed, it is much better in Oblivion. In fact the effort to make the game more playable is the best thing Bethesda did for Oblivion. There are other flaws that took it's place sadly.

- You don't need MP to have a great game, this has got to be the biggest misconception nowadays *shakes head*.

- The graphics are decent, but I would say the size and the better gameplay over past iterations made Oblivion stand out. The thing that made it a disappointment for me was the dynamic leveling, essentially killed a lot of the games scope. :cry:

I beat Oblivion 3 times all the way through, and all those plays combined to 300 hours, which is how long Bethesda said a SINGLE playthrough would take.

Vanilla Oblivion sucks; boring combat system, bad acting, crappy quests, and its EXTREMELY generic.

However, add a few dozen mods to your game (I had about 130 of them) and it adds a crapload of stuff.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the best game I`ve played on the 360, -Bioshock comes a very close second. Yes, Oblivion does have a habit of crashing now and again and yes, there are some glitches to it, but its massive - there's plenty of stuff to do, it has an great story, its engrossing. It had me hooked - 113 hours of gameplay to complete it plus the Shivering Isles expansion and a couple of others. Oblivion has made most other good games look average at best.

I appreciate not everyone will share the same views as me, but this is my opinion on Oblivion. Its a work of art!

How is it boring? I personally find it rather interesting to be able to take a first person perspective in Sword/Bow/whatever fighting.

Then again, that's just an opinion of mine.
