Why do you like violent games? Like GTA4 and such.
I'm not sure why I do, maybe it's human nature.

i dont and i dont mind at all..if that's how devs want to make it, then sure, just as long as ESBR sticks an "M" on the box :P
because you do in the games what you can't do in reality and because most of the games need some sort of violence to make them challenging and not just documentaries. Why do you like violent games? Like GTA4 and such.

Yes, The only reason I got GTA4 was to get hookers and murder them after they do there job. Jokes aside, I buy games depending on "me" whether its violent or not doesn't effect me. I can go from Mario galaxy to GTA just fine...Fightingfan
I'm asking why you enjoy the games with gratuitous violence (such as GTA).

First sentence in my post then.Yes, The only reason I got GTA4 was to get hookers and murder them after they do there job. Any way its not so much the violence that attracts its the conflict and competition itself. Tetris is fun for a little while but it lacks any type of excitment, flying throught the streets of gta followed by dozens of cops and trying to avoid cars and citizens (or not since they are squishy) can put you on the edge of your seat if you get into it.
I don't like games that are just violent.funsohng
I agree. I tend to enjoy games where I do not have to kill anyone or anything or does not involve depictions of blood or gore. The sight of blood and gore is personally replusive to me which is why I avoid M-rated and violent T-rated games.

It was never too bad for me. I have seen old indian films. The gore in those are pretty bad. Heck, the news broadcasts in indian television are full of gore!
Games in general, allow people to experience things that are impossible to do in real life. Be it illegal or just pure fiction. Thats my personal reason.
Couple things. First, it's stress relief--catharsis, you might say. Being able to do some visceral things and not end up tried for murder or worse for it can be rather soothing. Second, it lets our minds roam. Haven't you ever had the thought to do something really nasty but knew it was no-go in society? There are those who say it's good for society to have such outlets. Why do you like violent games? Like GTA4 and such.

You need the dimension of violence in games for more variety
But if you are talking about GTA vs Mario, then no I don't enjoy violent games, I prefer.. happy games I guess is the term?
I don't purposefully look for the most gory game I can find (Although Gears/Fallout are packed with it), but I don't 'mind' it because I know it's not real. Change that to real violence and I'd run away in an instant, it's not that I've been 'desensitised' to violence, more that I've understood the different consequences between running someone over in a game, and seeing real violence. For example - is it fun shooting someones limbs off in Fallout? Yes. Would I want to see something like that happen to someone in reality....NORavensmashthat'd be some scary **** I mean if you've ever seen someone get hit by a car you'd understand its not a pretty sight. here in the middle east it happens a lot. still afraid to cross the street and I'm 17.* bad memories flash*
I enjoy all great games doesnt have to be violent... It just happens that most of the great games i played involved some level of violence, basically with the exception of some genres (ex. sports, sim racers) all games involve killing of enemies...Only Difference being the level of gore / blood shed depicited in the games..
I'm not a fan of gore or anything, not that I don't like it, it's just not something that I regard on the top of my list of good qualities in a game. But I'm playing through Ninja Gaiden 2 at the moment, & I keep thinking the game would be less satisfying without the blood & dismemberment's. There's something about slicing limbs off & then performing a cinematic finishing technique that really shines in NG2.
I actually don't own a single 18+ yet. I like Battlefield: Bad Company and how the screen goes black and white the less health you have in comparison to Modern Warfare 2's blood and sweat splattering all over your screen.
We're supposed to find violence fun, it ties in with our competitive nature and most basic instincts. Civilised society is capable of producing humans that have 'learned' to not find it fun though.
