Who will replace Sony in 2020?

We already know that Sony is ran by a group of incompetent morons who couldn't spin a profit at a lemonade stand, with all of their divisions in the toilet they've reached a point where even the Playstation brand can't carry them anymore. I would say that by 2025 Sony will be a distant memory. I think anyone with half a brain would agree with that

Microsoft. Playstation is the Myspace of gaming. The Xbox will take over and become the top dog forever.

EDIT: Seriously, Facebook. I feel that in the coming decades (lol, lemme look into my crystal ball a sec), if any of the big three are to leave the video game industry, there are several big companies who could fill in, considering quite a few already have a foot in the door. Look at Apple, Samsung, and even HTC with their Valve partnership for the Vive HMD. Apple and Samsung are primarily mobile now, but as Nintendo has been addressing more and more, the mobile industry is quickly encroaching into the 3DS/DS-space.

With VR experiences appearing to be a pivotal move for many companies, it's hard not to see some of these other big tech manufacturers sidestepping the consoles and offering something completely new.

While cows will downplay it, and lems will over exaggerate it... The fact is, is that Sony is in pretty deep trouble. Sony sold off everything it possibly could last year, to try and show a profit but that was only a short term gain. Now, their assets are gone, and they are still bleeding money. They did manage to temporarily slow it down, but they are in debt way too deep. Even if the PS4 continues to sell like hotcakes, and their camera and insurance divisions do well... That's not going to be enough to cover their debts.

They've simply been losing far too much money for far too long.

As for the question. MS seems like the logical answer. They've seen the results of releasing the less powerful console. They won't make that mistake twice. I'd expect MS to go overboard with the next gen xbox in terms of power. MS only has to play the waiting game. They know they can afford to ride it out, and have basically said as much.

PC or a similar device (as if consoles aren't gimped PCs already) will likely be the central hub for entertainment, with many manufacturers creating either the internal hardware or some proprietary peripheral, which would be required to play specific games. I mean, this really doesn't sound too different from what is happening now, does it?

I don't think Sony will quit PlayStation.Yes,Sony don't go well but it's not the first time.He had problems in the past too.They may quit TV's, or mobile phones but not PlayStation. Only time will tell,but I don't think PS brand name will go away from Sony.

They aren't going anywhere. As long as consumers want to play videogames, there will be a need for a Playstation. Now whether that is an actual console or an online gaming service, I expect to be playing games through Playstation for a long time to come!!

Either Samsung or Apple. Both companies today are essentially what Sony was in the 70s, 80s and even 90s.

Sony might be in a bad way, they're still bleeding money, just not as much. At this rate of loss, they can last at least a decade longer.

The only time you will have to touch the controller will be to pass a QTE or walk somewhere.

All interesting and creative gameply will be generic and shallow.

While your GPS and detective mode will eliminate any and all need for actual thought and agency.

Sony electronics are having a bad spell, but their entertainment division is the biggest money maker they have. They will be an entertainment company only before they go under.

gaming wise they are doing fine...they just cant seem to get over their other divisions. its too high priced for products that are not top notch
