http://www.pcgamesn.com/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines/new-vampire-bloodlines-trademark-spotted-let-that-sink-in

Back in October, 'Vampire: the Masquerade' was trademarked for computer game software, and 'Vampire Bloodlines' got the same treatment recently, as uncovered by a poster on the RPGCodex forums.

The trademark was filed on April 26, 2016, by White Wolf Publishing AB. It seems like White Wolf are securing the IP in its various forms either simply to protect the IP, or perhaps because they're actively working, or are considering working, on a sequel.

If it does happen, hopefully this one actually works without unofficial patches.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a stone cold classic, and that mission where you walk around a haunted mansion gets under your skin as much today as it did back then. If you can be bothered to mess about a bit, it's well worth a revisit.

Their owners trademarking something they've always owned? What a shock!

White wolf publishing is the subsidiary of paradox now and there's nothing wrong with them protecting their IP , I don't know if you heard the news but Boyarsky also joined Obsidian in April , as you know he's the project leader and art director of bloodlines .....

Boyarsky and Cain previously worked together on the first two Fallout titles at Interplay before founding their own development studio.

Along with Jason Anderson, Boyarsky and Cain co-founded Troika Games in 1998 which developed titles Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, The Temple of Elemental Evil and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.

Obsidian is currently working on the narrative-driven RPG Tyranny, which is to be published by Paradox. In it, players take on the role of a customizable character called the Fatebinder, whose past and future actions shape the world.

Tyranny will release sometime this year, and is being built on the same engine as Pillars of Eternity.

It may mean nothing, but Paradox acquired the White Wolf IPs from CCP back in October 2015 along with all assets from the cancelled World of Darkness MMO and Vampire the Masquerade. The firm also purchased White Wolf as a whole, and it will act as a subsidiary of Paradox.

With Boyarsky and Cain back together, is it possible we could see the two return for a Bloodlines sequel or resurrect World of Darkness in some form? We sure hope so, but we won’t get excited just yet. Still, the prospect of Obsidian working on White Wolf properties makes our heart skip a beat. Or two.

Dawn of War 3 was trademarked almost 1 year ago and here we are with official announcement. I won't be surprised if Obsidian is working with Paradox to make a sequel.

Just saying it's common sense, but don't be surprised if nothing is done. Nintendo re-trademarks Eternal Darkness SO MANY times, but they have done **** all with that IP, they may as well sell it at this point.

Besides, let's not forget that Vampire: The Masquerade was a tabletop game first.

I'd rather remain optimistic in spite of obvious facts , and I don't think paradox just bought the IP to put it on gog for sale, bloodlines is a great franchise , it has potential. .... I'm sure we're going to see a sequel/remake in a near future

The fact they didn't use the word "Masquarade" in their trademark implies it'll probably be Chronicles of Darkness era Vampire. The great thing about that is that Vampire is a long lived IP with a lot of material to draw upon, so there are a lot ways one could approach it and come out with a great game.

Västgötagatan 5 Stockholm SWEDEN

Now, this is entirely offtopic, but is all the game industry in Stockholm concentrated in the same place? Avalanche studios and DICE are a few meters away IIRC. Fatshark (Vermintide) and Mojang (Minecraft) are close to each other, 10 minutes away from DICE/Avalanche.

I've been talking with the PR folks from the publishers of the table top version and they mentioned that White Wolf is actively seeking a company to make new content set in the Bloodlines/older universe.

They also made mention of Obsidian being a strong contender.

They also made it clear that they had NOTHING to do with the digital stuff and their information was second-hand at best.

Paradox also issued stocks worth around $13 million in order to finance expansions and new projects. They do mention expanding into new markets like consoles, but they have also been very firm about continuing to cater to a hardcorde PC/strategy/RPG market, and they have mentioned White Wolf and cooperating with Obsidian specifically.

Majority ownership remains with Fredrik Wester et al, so don't worry (yet) about them getting gobbled up by some soulless giant company.

It seems a lot of my most beloved games are making a comeback in updated format this generation.
Pillars of Eternity, Battlezone 98, Vampyer, Windwaker, Majora's Mask, Doom..., Odin Sphere, Castlevania (kickstarter), Banjo Kazooie (kickstarter)! Nice!

Yeah, pretty much. I live in Stockholm and can confirm.
