My poll choices are the top 5 major RPG releases this year.

2011 will be very close, but Mass Effect 3 will get the edge due to the fact that its the concluding game of the main franchise. Skyrim will be its biggest challanger however. In fact, we might finally see a Bethesda vs Bioware battle for the top RPG of the year, as prior years, major Bioware releases, and major Bethesda releases were different years.

2011 will show the dominance of console WRPGs over console JRPGs this gen.

The other three contenders could rise if it nails all its fundamentals, and those games could also impact the genre.

SW tor will have the same content as all those games mixed together so yeah it may be the biggest hit this year.

Tactics Ogre: Let us cling together

I have a feeling I'll be pretty biased concerning Deus Ex 3, because it just looks so awesome, but Deus Ex3, The Witcher 2, and Tactics Ogre are my top 3 wanted rpgs.

I wouldn't count it, its a remake of an old game, not a new one.

I'm easily placing my bets on the Witcher 2 out of all of those. Bioware/Bethesda's previous records don't give me much reason to believe they'll beat CDProjekt this time round.

Yeah, which has a much bigger script(Close to Planescape), allows you to make a lot big decision that changes similar most WRPGs, and it's by the creator of FFT and most of the original team is working on it? Sounds good to me, I could careless if it's a remake or an old game, doesn't make it less worse than anything out now.

But CD Projekt may not have the polish as the two B's (Bioware far more than Bethesda)....thats what I fear the most about the Witcher. It took an Enhanced Edition to get the first game right. And last time I checked, both Bioware and Bethesda have very strong track records. RPG elitists can't stand this.

There is a reason why I cannot call FFVI Advance the best RPG of 2007. Its not fair to the new games. Tactics Ogre is awesome, but its plain and simple, a remake.

I wouldn't worry about polish.

It's now their own engine, they've had time, they have budget.

And LOL at Oblivion or Fallout 3 being polished. One of the buggiest games I've played.

of the 5 on your list.

3 i am definently getting and excited for

Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, and Deus Ex : Human Revolution.

however i do think Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex have a strong chance of winning the show.

I have a strange feeling that Deus Ex is gonna be a lot cooler then what we've seen, and that Eidos Montreal is purposely keeping things close to the vest.

Mass Effect 3 - if they build on their success from Mass Effet 2 that would be amazing. but for it to be truely phenomenal is the choices you made in Mass Effect 1 and 2, the big decisions, have real ramifications in the finale.

The Witcher 2 all the way. About 4 years in development, all the dev diaries showed what a masterpiece it is, and looks to improve its predecessor in every way. The rest have too little info to make a good hypothesis.

I don't give a damn about the polish - and it's not like Bethesda is particularly good about getting that right. I care about writing, characterization and roleplaying. In those respects the Witcher was FAR better than anything Bethesda or Bioware have done within the past five years.

Ah yes, the insinuation that I'm a snob because I have a different opinion than you. Why am I not surprised that this is coming from a Bioware and Bethesda fan?

i will likely only play Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. i couldn't get with dragon age's turn based combat, so will only go for the second game if its leaps and bounds better than the first. Mass effect 3 will be making me the most excited. but i will spend a lot more time with skyrim, so my vote goes to skyrim, even though, most of my playtime with it will be in 2012.sts106mat

Conceptually it is the Witcher 2 so far. Sales: Skyrim and if the mod community gets to work it could eventually be skyrim assuming the tools get put out and with some flexibility.

In terms of sales I believe Skryim will win out. Though I think The Witcher 2 will be faced with the highest critical acclaim.

My hopes of the best three are:

The Witcher 2 > Deus Ex: HR = Skyrim

Those three games are really gonna keep a big smile glued to my face for more then a few months, if all goes well, and the devs deliver :P

ME3 Im sort of neutral to, It looks to be good, but man those above three looks awesome.

DA2 I don't really care about alot, from what ive seen its just not my type of game (heck I did not even like the first DA)

From that list, The Witcher 2 by far with Skyrim in 2nd. If it comes out this year though, Diablo III will be king of all games.
