What's the longest you have ever sat there playing a game?

For me, damn, I have to go all the way back to my Nintendo/Sega Genesis days. There was no save features for most of those games. Back then, if you wanted to see the end credits for a game you had to hunker down and basically live like a hermit (or freak depending on you point of view.) until you were done.

Every once and a while you would come across a game like Zelda that had save files built in or some other method of continuation like inputting a password but those games were the exception rather than the norm.

Personally speaking, I think the most time I ever spent was playing a game nonstop was from around 6 AM until 3 AM the following morning. I know that may seem "light" when compared to some of the experts out there. I've heard of some incredibly long marathons that last weeks for certain games. That "Desert Bus" game/simulator comes to mind.

On release day I spent 14 hours straight beating The Last Guardian in one sitting. I don't normally do things like that, though.

Likely was the DC's PSO session, watched the sun come up in the morning and kept right on playing. Of course that was many moons ago, these days I'm lucky to play for a couple hours. lol

As a kid during Christmas break in 1998, I played Ocarina of Time on the N64 from the time I woke up in the morning until bedtime with only short food and bathroom breaks in between.

I wish I still had the time to do stuff like that. Nowadays, it's rare that I could play for more than 2 or 3 hours.

Playing many games, probably 12 hours before I passed out. Was at a party with a bunch of friends and we stayed up most the night.

Playing a single game... when Uncharted Drake's Fortune launched. My wife took our kiddo to her mom's house for the day and I sat for 8-9 hours only breaking for a quick snack or bathroom break. Completed it in one shot. Great game.

Not exactly sure on the time, but I've got a few crazy ones.

When Super Street Fighter II came out on SNES, my buddy and I sat there playing it for so long that when I stood up, I fainted.

When MGS2 came out I pulled an all nighter and beat the game in one push. I remember it being extra weird because that section towards the end where Campbell is all like "turn off the game console" lol. That might have been about a 15 hour run.

When I was about 14 I had the brilliant idea of playing Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, and Super Mario RPG, all for the first time at the same time lol. Not really a single sitting thing, but that was a brutal 3 weeks.

I've had countless 8-10 hour binges, especially with the Final Fantasy and Zelda games back in the day.

26 straight hours of World of Warcraft vanilla when it was released, after that I had many times of 10+ hours.
Nowadays however being much older and practically having no free time, if I play for an hour or two, I'm super grateful.

Yeah, probably WoW during release time. Or trying to reach a high PVP rank. Playing for 20+ hours was no rare occasion.

Guild Wars, when it released I put in 81 hours with no sleep, maxed my character, explored the whole map and did everything I wanted to do, never touched it again.

Well there really wasn't any situation I sat really long on a game, there are usually some brekas between it. I do remember havin "game weekends" with friends like 15 years ago, where we played for like 24+ hours (without sleep), but even then there were breaks between the gaming sessions where we paused, ate something or stuff like that. As I got older that's just not possible. Even today I usually make short breaks when playing more than an hour, especially when friends are at my place. So we play like an hour of Mario Kart 8, take a break of 30min, play some Nintendo land, eat dinner and end playing an hour of LBP3 or something.

I played A Link to the Past straight through the day after I had my wisdom teeth removed. I really knew what I was doing at that point, so I'd say it took around 7 hours?

Yeah, that is pretty insane lol.

I've powered my way through 60+ hours doing research and personal projects a good few times in college. But 81 hours is crazy. I'd probably die lol.

Especially these days, anything past the 24 hour mark just has to wait.

Yeah man, I'd need to tape my eyelids open and even then I'd likely fall asleep with my eyes open or just plain keel over from exhaustion and you'd read about the dumbass who died from too much video gaming.. lol

24 hours.

I was bedridden after my brain surgery and the steroids and painkillers I was on made it hard to sleep. 2nd brain surgery was in Dec of '11. Guess what game I was addicted to.

Skyrim. Took me about about 150 hours to discover how shallow it was. Still have a love/hate relationship with that game.

I've spent more nights than I would like to count playing CS1.6 through the night and then going to work in the morning. Like 12-15 hour sessions plus however many hours I had to work the next day. So stupid. So sleep deprived and over caffeinated that my eyes start watering uncontrollably and I'v got the jitters. It's like, "Go to bed fucker, you're done."

I have finished Pokemon Silver in one sitting, in a 30 hour run... that was probably it.

My Gameboy battery died after that, and I didn't bother getting new AAs, because I was done

Damn, man. If you don't mind me asking, why did you have the surgeries, exactly?

I ask because I was born with sagittal craniosynostosis and have had 3 corrective surgeries as a result. Each surgery had a 4-6 month recovery time and I also had insomnia because of all the meds I was taking. Shit was so agonizing at some points that I would just weep the days away. Not much else a scared kid can do at that point.

The longest I played a game for was actually the demo map for Ghost Recon when that came out. I hosted a server for over 12 hours playing just that one map with buddies from all around the planet. I don't know if I could do that now though. There are few demos released anymore or for games that I want to play.

I used to do 3-4 hour stints pretty regularly. Most I ever did was probably a few 6 hour sessions with the Dayz mod when I had a group I played with a lot

I played Fallout New Vegas for about 10 hours when it first released.

What's most impressive is I didn't encounter a single glitch during that session. Considering how buggy that game was at launch, that's almost unprecedented.

Probably Goldeneye 007 on New Years Eve/Day for 7 hours back in the day. I am sure there are others but I can't remember.

Civilization IV might have been 5 or 6 hours in one sitting.

I also remember spending a long time in Persona 3: FES on the final boss. I died once and you all know how long those boss fights can get.

15hours+ easily playing any of these games: Settlers 3 &/or 4, Any Command and Conquer, Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun usually, more so for offline skirmishes against like 7 opponents, any diablo type game, but mostly Diablo 2 more so offline but did grace battlenet back in the 56K days. Duke Nukem on Vita.

Damn bro. I feel for ya.

I have a slow growing incureable (sp?) brain tumor. They found it in '03. It gives me very painful partial-complex seizures. I don't have cancer now (after 3rd craniotomy, chemo, and radiation), but the tumor type that I have has a 100% recurrence rate.

The longest I have ever played is probably around 30 hours straight of Resident Evil 4. I forced myself to stay awake and played through the single player then finished it a second time. Only break I took was to use the toilet.

Angry birds comes to mind, quite liked the Starwars one with Ian McDiarmid.

Usually play a game for 10-15 minutes then go read a book or do something else more constructive.

Shouldn't really play a game for more than an hour when you're an adult.

I played Modern Warfare 2 with a group of friends for about 9 hours straight.

Played MGS4 about 4 hours the day it came out, then another 12 to beat it the following day.

I played SSB Brawl alot in the first 24 hours of its release as well.

Probably Dota 2. I think I played 25 games straight? Ill never do that again. A few 6-8 hour COD sessions. Can never do that anymore but. I miss having the freedom to wake up and go "You know what, I'm gonna try and get the highest level possible today"
