The whole article you linked is based off a post by Albert Penello on NeoGAF, which lead to an intense back and forth with him last night where he was caught red-handed giving incorrect technical information as a basis for his arguments.
Also, by your very comparison of the PS3 and 360 (you claimed the 360 was more powerful), then there is absolute precedence in the cheaper console being stronger in a particular generation. And again, that doesn't really factor at all into the games and graphics we'll be getting.
Is PS4 a stronger system than X1? Yes, i'll attest to that from personal experience. Does that mean the X1 will have bad looking games and not be able to keep up with the hardware standard for the upcoming generation? Absolutely not. Buy whatever console that appeals to you; if you feel the X1 has a stronger value proposition TO YOU, then go ahead and purchase.
Maybe it's because I have first-hand experience with the boxes & OS' themselves, but i've already made up my mind which one will be my primary gaming-console next-generation, and that is PS4. And I make that decision paying no mind to how many people may or may not end up buying it or it being the stronger system - it literally has no factor in my purchasing decision. I just evaluated ALL of the functionality and use cases the console has, the environment the manufacturer is looking to create for the gaming experiences it seeks to foster, and what the console may potentially become in years time, and I feel its a stronger platform for ME. Ask yourselves similar questions and make up your own minds accordingly.
