What would your dream console be?

If you had a chance to design a video game console what features would it have? Feel free to be as detailed as you like, for example what storage would it use? How would its controller be etc. Try to keep it plausible, maybe no plugging into the matrix just yet :)

Xbox 3: Blu Ray, supports all 360 games, same gamertag and gamerscore follows over, arcade games transfer, 360 controller works wiith it, huge specs to insure another 8 year lifecycle.

I hope this happens.

Offer two SKUs. One which can play Blu Ray / DVD for people who want it, and a cheaper one which doesn't have these features some (me) might deem unecessary.

offer every control scheme. tablet controller. steering wheels with clutches. motion controls.traditional controls. even mouse controls for FPS. Obviously don't ovver every one for every game but offer the appropriate ones for each game.

Graphics and CPU? They need to be good but the don't need to be amazing. They did really well this gen with the hardware they had. Mandatory minimums of 1920x1080 @ 30FPS or better, or 1280x720 @ 60FPS.

Games? everything, especially the missing genres like RTS. I want to see more mature games come about with emotionally challenging decisions. Something more adult?

Online service? I want to pay as it has to help keep out the trolls. Make it ... 33% of the LIVE fee. I don't want people to be able to join for free, troll troll troll then get banned, and just join again for free. Keep 'em out.

Storage? anything USB. Also allow for an internal 2.5/3.5 inch SATA hard disk.

The console would need the following features:

• Be powerful enough to get all the current gen multiplatform games
• Have at least 20GB of solid state internal storage, but allow the user to add what they see fit via USB 3.0
• Must be backed up by excellent exclusive titles
• Be able to access content from the user's PC, such as music and video though the network
• Must have a comfortable controller, but doesn't necessarily need to be innovative.
• Optional motion controls
• Allow mods to be applied to games through the system's online service
• Backwards Compatibility
• Have a way to register and rip your last gen games(disc based) to whatever storage you have available

PS4 with BC with every PlayStation console(1,2,3) and multi-tasking while in-game. 1080p/60 frames by default.

Part of me wants only one console to rule them all, no more dumb fanboys and everyone could enjoy every game. However that would kill competition and would be impossible, so it would ultimately be a bad thing.

Honestly though when it comes to game libraries, at least between the PS3 and 360, 90% of their libraries are the same. Only difference in that 10% are exclusives, so really it just comes down to what exclusives one prefers (as well as free online, what system your friends have etc....).

I expect this trend to continue next gen, more games being multiplat. Which is fine by me, more people get to play and enjoy the same great games.

The one that would have all the top JRPGs like Dark SOuls, the top traditional JRPGs like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, the top puzzle games like Braid, Limbo, Banjo 3, the top shooters like Halo 4, Gears, the top WRPGs like Witcher 2, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect etc

Also would have to get the games before other consoles and run them as best as possible, like Skyrim with next gen graphics and not a huge blur like it is running on PS1

Hopefully it would have a cloud system in which one could buy games at an extremly low price during special parts of the year. Perhaps with this vastly superior console one could add third party software in order to enchance their gaming expireiance.. damn... that would be a cool console..

I would like something like alienwares x51 but with the option to keep upgrading your graphic card along with other specs. blu-ray drive if not better whats that new one thats coming out hevc or something like that. awesome gamepads xbox controller with ps3 dpad and button layout except the the l2 r2 they are awful pushing them all the way wtf!. no load time on anything, and have it as a powerful pc aswell or a media pc that has a legit browser!!. ALSO NOT TO HAVE A PROPRIETARY STORE. customize to shop where ever you damn want and connect to any server since this will be a console I can play against a pc or anyother hardware.

I would essentially make a "GameCube 2".

I doubt it would do well on the market tho.

Well, since games are what matter to me most, my ideal console would have Nintendo's first party and all of the 3rd party support. That way I'd only have to own the one console to play pretty much every good game out there.
