What will be the Game of the Year contenders this year?

Maybe, since Sony hasn't announced a solid date I'm not holding my breath for it. Maybe come E3 we'll know for sure.

The only thing that could knock Zelda out of number 1 is Super Mario Odyssey.

We are planning to play-through Divnity 2 in COOP.

The original game was very pleasing, unless they mess up expecting a great deal of entertainment.

I agree. Prey is easily GOTY this year. kinda sad its not getting much attention because people are more butthurt about that cancelled prey 2 and they dont want immersive sim instead they want far cry in space.

We all know Legend of Zelda is getting goty. Everything in that game is great, because it didn't innovate.

RDR2 could be a legit contender though.

no, Zelda isnt close to game of all time material. Maybe next Zelda when they fix it up a bit

My vote to Scalebound.

Zelda is taking it this year for sure, I don't think anyone can really argue that reality.

Even if people here don't personally think it deserves it, just the overall positive reaction from both the community and media at large to this game is beyond anything I've seen for a long time.

The only things I could even slightly see giving it a run for it's money at this point is either Mario Odyssey, or TLoU2 (if that even releases this year).

Zelda already won GOTY

The only other possible contenders are Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, or Last of Us 2 if it magically releases this year.

Horizon 0 Dawn no doubt imo. I love game worlds and universes being extended. I drink it up. Horizon is the type of game that I wish had books like Witcher and Halo for me to read. Loving it.

I'm betting on RDR2 as well. I don't think it will win here same as my GOTY 2013 GTA5 didn't win here.

Mass Effect Andromeda I played for 2 hours tonight. I was laughing at some people in a podcast chat claiming how it isn't blowing them away. I wasn't Blown away hours into Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 either. It was the entire game that turned out to be great. I'll give it time.

Zelda. It's going to be a massacre.

Yea, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Zelda will sweep GotY this year. Easily.

The difference between GTA4 and GTA5 is so substantial that if Rockstar does the same with Red Dead then I can see Red Dead and Zelda being the only two REAL GOTY contenders.

So far from quick looks and stream Adromeda looks like the worst Mass Effect game from the franchise... 7/10 reviews in coming.

Sea of Thieves will be GOAT... Well, not here of course but other places. Here, eh, does it really matter? lol :P

The GOTY will be easily Red Dead Redemption 2, can't really see anything challenging it.

I can totally see RDR2 steamrolling everything. BotW released too early in the year.

If RDR is a 2017 game its a late one and it will be in full on hype mode. Can't wait for that game too btw, I just hope they address the pacing issues of the first.

My bet is on BotW. They're probably eager to give it GotY now that Zelda is amazing again.

As a product RDR2 may surpass Zelda. As a game not a chance. R* hasn't made a good game since GTA: SA.
