Donkey kong land for the gameboy.

Blitz on the Vic20 and Pacman was the first ones I really remember playing chunks of. I used to play on some of the computers at my dad's work before that.
@charizard1605: I was a really big proponent of removing the censors on the GameSpot forums...but I loathe the things that some people say/how some people phrase things.
Cry more, pussy.
I believe I always was obsessed with playing games ever since the first time I got to play a PS1 and NES at some daycare place or sumthin. I think what made me a legitimate nerd though was when I started going to gamespot and keeping up with releases.
You know, the game that made you a bonafide gamer. The game that got you hooked. For me, it was MGS1 for PS1. Before that, games were just games. MGS showed you can have an awesome story with great voice acting. You actually cared for the characters. You wanted to find out which twist and turn would come next. What about you, SW? What was THAT game?
I get what you mean
It was original Street Fighter 2.
It was the first time i stepped in Arcades as a kiddo and the moment i saw SF2 ...that was it !
OMG... You and me are just the same.
:) .. It was a shock really ! So many other arcade games around me but i had eyes only for SF2 ... Well not only me considering half of people in there was above that cabinet ..waiting to play ! :) Aaahh that pure era of video gaming was the best ...
Lol, I went one step ahead. Seeing me play day and night at arcades. Father somehow decided to run his own place full of arcades. After that I used to game for free. Then after few days my father brought few arcades at home (Lol that's true). Me, my brother and my maternal uncles used to play Street Fighter, Snow Bros etc entire day on them. Later we closed that business and I got a console to play Street Fighter 2 and other games. Switched to PC in 2001. Looking forward to Street Fighter 5 :-D
OMG bro .. Snow bros was one of my favorites other than SF2.
I wasnt so lucky ... Do you know when i first entered an Arcade place and for how long ? I was waiting a ship at port to take me home from an island i was for vacations... Those arcades were next to port !! I had like 30minutes max ... All i could do was watching and watching and watching .... There wouldnt be 1 in a million to make it to play with so many people waiting ... I remember my mother yelling at me .. where are you lets go , we need to go ... lol !!
Lucky youuuu ! After a year or a bit more finally a small arcade place opened near when i live .... back then werent any laws that these places should be for 18+ in my country let alone after a year the place owned by my fathers friend so all good !! And yes bro , there i became a serious gamer and you cant imagine how excited i became when i saw SF2 in there !! ..I was playing SF2/Snow bros/Raiden/Super Sidekicks/Street hoop /Tekken/Sunset Riders/Midnight Resistance and all the other great arcade games of 90s up to 96-97 where i became a serious consolite gamer ( i owned a Genesis and PS1 at the time ) and early 2000s PCs won me with games like CS , Diablo , Half life etc ...
Damn we have so much in common ! And yes , SF5 !! Briiing it ! :)
Phantasy Star... back on the Sega Master system. I liked all the Nintendo games at the time... Zelda/ punchout/ Wiz & Warriors... but none compared to Phantasy Star.
If Phantasy Star took my virginity... then Phantasy Star II made me a man. Countless hours on that amazing game.

Yeah those were the days... the next person in line would put their 2 quarters up on the machine. I had a wave of nostalgia when I first won 3-in-a-row online in SF4... and the 'I Got Next' achievement popped up.
Nothing like the days of SF2 and MK 1 & 2 in the arcades. Where PvP began.
My story isn't very simple. I started gaming with intelevision and Donkey Kong when I was really young and there was a point where I favoured story and RPGs above all other games. Then there came a time where I grew out of that completely and I've become a man who looks as video games as art but for different reasons than most. Video games offer a unique kind of medium that presents a different kind of art. The art of gameplay mechanics and level design.
For me there wasn't one game that got me hooked, but a point that changed the way I looked at video games past, present and future.
It was probably Leisure Suit Larry on PC. I worked as a computer consultant back then and everyone I worked with was trying to figure out one part of it or another. I think we were just amazed that you could do something on PC that wasn't spreadsheets or word processing even if the graphics were uh... let's say functional at best.
OMG... You and me are just the same.

Yup, that sounds almost like what happened to me. Cool :-)
Trying to remember if it was Oddworld Adventures or one of the 3 Genesis games I had. Can't remember when I was gifted the Genesis.
If we are talking games that aren't owned by me then I would probably say an arcade game would probably have been my first.
Well my first console was sega megadrive so games like golden axe, sonic, streets of rage were my early childhood but I took gaming seriously when I got ps1 and n64 games like orcarina of time, final fantasy 8, crash and many more
God knows, probably some shit text based RPG that I spent hours typing into my ZX81. The fact I spent hours copying code from a magazine, in the hope of a game actually working as intended would probably have been enough proof of an early addiction.
Other than that it would have been Space Invaders, Defender, Galaxian's etc. in the local arcade. Being able to play those games in the comfort of our houses was nothing but a dream. Welcome to the late 70's and early 80's ;)
I dont remember that far back for the SNES, Gameboy Pocket, N64, GameBoy Color, but for the PS2 it was Budokai 1 and on PS3 it was Uncharted 1.
I always liked video games ever since my parents got me a SNES. What really got me into gaming was when I got Ocarina of Time. To this day that game is my favorite of all time.
still remember Burger Time, Frogger, Pitfall, Advance D&D on my old Intellivision. either those or my old Ms Pac-Man mini arcade were the first. AppleII with Shadowgate and Law of The West were soon to follow.
Mine was the first full length game i ever played and bought with my pocket money, i must have been 6 years old. It was Dungeon Keeper. I used to play it on the PC everyday for years and years until i got a PS1 and gameboy colour in 1999/2000
My first Mega drive game had to be Sonic 2, although i did enjoy Sonic 3 and Kunckles at the end. I do miss that game though :(
My first PS1 game i loved had to be Hogs of War. I loved sending my little piggies in to combat :D, shame PSN store doesn't have it on the list, i really would love to play that game again. Although I have to be honest, there where other games i loved on the PS1, but Hogs is the only one that came to mind.
My first PS2 game i loved has to be GTA VC, although i loved GTA SA 100 times more.
My first PS3 game i loved is TES4 Oblivion GOTYE. I enjoyed other games, but TES4 was the first ES game i ever played and when i started playing it, i was hooked for ages unlike other PS3 games i had.
My first Gameboy game i loved has to be the typical Pokemon games. Gold was my first Pokemon game i ever bought and i still consider it to be my number 1 game out of all Gameboy games including pokemon ones too.
My first Xbox has to be Halo
Sub hunt for intellivision. It was the first turn based strategy game I know of. Me cousin and I would play for hours. I was hooked on games after that.
