Bayonetta 2: Because the combat engine is sublime and it still has that right brand of Platinum crazy. The new additions to the weapons lineup, the witch trials, the improved animations, the larger variety of boss fights makes for a varied beat-em up that easily belongs in a conversation with Ninja Gaiden Black, Devil May Cry 3, and its predecessor the original Bayonetta. I'd probably lean more towards the original, but I can at least say Bayonetta 2 never has the lows the original has. It's a more consistent action game and it's a damn fine example of game design. Too bad it has shitty cinematic walking.
Bloodborne: Admittedly the chalice dungeons are gross, the frameskipping is a nightmare at times, and the lack of build variety is off putting. On the other hand the combat is terrific, the boss fights are always a joy to fight, the atmosphere is brilliant, and oh yeah they have a hard on for Lovecraft, which is cool as **** on principle.
Otherwise I thought games like Shovel Knight, Divinity, and Talos Principle were pretty good. But Bayonetta 2 and Bloodborne are better than pretty good, they are terrific.
The PC players should be saying 'Kerbal' if the other thread is to be believed. It's AAA, after all.
The PlayStation players should be saying 'The Order' because that is the first game with real next-gen graphics (the only thing required to make a good game, and it's AAA).
The Xbox players should be saying 'Dark Souls II'.
The Nintendo players should be saying 'Smash Bro or MK8' because they're the Nintendo mainstays.
