How do you think these companies should best learn from their mistakes so that they can make better consoles next gen?

Nintendo: Games, focus on "TEH HARDCORE GAMEZ", and have some major improvements to Nintendo WFC.
Sony: Console not so expensive
Microsoft: Don't charge everyone for every service, and have built in WiFi.
Sony: Needs to come with a $299 console like they did with PS2. Have a good arsenal of games in its 1st year, and not be horrendously arrogant with their brand.
Nintendo: Focus on all audiences, meaning hardcore gamers, and casual gamers. Stop milking the same games and creat new IP's
Microsoft: Get a damn 1st party support. Don't rush no console......please, we've all seen the results of it. Plus, no overcharging additional things. That really pisses me off.
Nintendo: Have a better stream of games for all audiences.
Microsoft: Fire the morons that wanted to rush the console, lower prices on accessories, improve reliability.
Sony: Don't have people take out loans to buy your console, stick with as few SKUs as possible.

^That and under Sony (and half MS) stop the arrogance.
Nintendo: Give us more hardcore games and stop focusing completely on the casual market
Microsoft: Don't release a console with hardware issues. Stop making shooters that features little color and beefed-up meatheads.
Sony: Umm...Release the console with some good support from day one. The PS3 had bad support the first couple of years.
Nintendo - Graphics. Online system that is universal (If they want to keep friend codes, atleast make it so that every game has the same code for your system.) Some more 3rd party would be nice.
Sony - Some more games. Everyone knows their system is the best when it comes to convinience. You can just find an old USB cord in your house, and charge your controller with it, has built in Wi-Fi, Blu-ray, an awesome network system (Watching movies from my computer wirelessly). You don't need to buy any other accessories for it. However, it is arguable that it does not have the best library.
360 - Make a console that isn't so... huge, or that dies every two weeks. Free online. Make a better rechargeable controller. Blue Tooth, so you don't have to buy a crappy headset for two times the price of a Blue Tooth one. Less shooters...
Nintendo: Get enough hardware for multiplats.. seriously be like the PS2
Sony: Don't overhype, overprice and overpromise just deliver a good system.
MS: hardware hardware hardware!!! Make a good product next time with more features and allow DLC to be free when devs want it to be free.
For all: Scrap motion controls. Just because you wave your arms around like a spastic ape doesn't make a game good.

You do know that there are people that play video games for fun... not to brag that they are good at them, Right?
I agree. The day that motion controlls are required (meaning no other options) is the day I quit gaming. For all: Scrap motion controls.

Nintendo needs to focus more on their hardcore gamers like they did with the Gamecube, while at the same time continue what they been doing to garner interest at the casual group as well. Microsoft really should take their time this time to test all their console, and make any sort of improvement on them to ensure us consumer that we aren't getting a console that last for only a short period of time. On the other hand Sony needs to make sure they don't launch a console that cost alot more than their competitions.

Lol, yeah..or that:PNintendo: Stop not giving a damn about the hardcore audience, HD-gaming, DVD/Blu-Ray player, at least 20GB of harddisk space in the system, the ability to use a normal controller with games, have big titles for a change (Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Crysis, etc. etc.), rechargeable controller, no dongles, no add-ons, much much much better online
Microsoft: Built in wi-fi, come with a charger for the controller, more reliable hardware, free online, more first-party titles, Blu-Ray,
Sony: BC, not as expensive at launch, easier to develop for
ALL: MORE RAM! So they can actually run games at 720p/1080p natively for a change! Also, next gen, let's try and steer away from the "gray/brown+superzbloomz = REALIZMZOR!!1!!"
Sony - Don't make me wait another 4 years for another FF, be less expensive from the start
Xbox - stop breaking down so much, and enough with all the fps's
Wii - Better online/graphics/games
Nintendo: Better hardware, im tired of looking at these god awful graphics.
An actually controller, you cant play brawl with a wiimote, it just dosen't work that well.
Microsoft: Dont rush stuff, first isnt always the best.
Stop paying for times exclusives, its aw waste of your money.
Dont make cheap stuff cost 10x more for the 360.
First party support.
Sony: Just keep your console price down.
All: Seriously, drop the motion control. Its annoying as hell, i honestly have zero interest in wailing around while playing a game, i play games to relax, not to get up and act like an arachnophobewith a spiders on me.

I guess you will only play game using the key board because no one will catch you using something as casual as a mouse.
MS:
1) More reliable hardware
2) Third party support for accessories
Sony:
1) Cheaper console
2) Killer launch titles
3) Restyled PSN id/bio cards
Both: Make everything faster, such as movements on the dashboard becoming instant or downloads being fast on the next Sony console
Uncharted 2 likegraphics in every game would be cool
Bluray support or at least something larger than DVD
Hard drives larger than 60gb as standard
Optional game installs
Free online (though i know it won't be for the next xbox)
Bundled, mics, charging cable, HDMI cable and warranties for all consoles upto at least 3 years
and maybe a disc changer :P

First..no one called motion controlls casual. And do you really think that a keyboard/mouse setup is the same as a Wiimote, Sony wand or Natal?[QUOTE="Burning-Sludge"][QUOTE="Phoenix534"]

Sure, but it pretty much ends there with the name. But that's just my opinion.
Edit: and to clarify..this doesn't mean I think the Wii (or anything with motion controlls) is crap or anything.
I just wouldn't like it if everyone goes the same route.
Nintendo: ditch motion controls, keep up with hardware, go back to turn-based Paper Mario and rely on bread and butter titles.
XBox: slightly revamp the controller for better fighting game control (D-pad), build in wifi
They need to focus on what they are doing. What are they making games for??
Just to name a few. I really do not want another generation like we have now.The Wii is different but has not come out with many games to show that difference. I hope now that they proved that new and invation is a good thing they will go all out next gen as I hope they all go out with a console that takes us somewhere new and bold.
Microsoft = Keep steeling exclusives, no fee for xbl, reliable hardware, more Halo gamesHow do you think these companies should best learn from their mistakes so that they can make better consoles next gen?
mhsdrake
Wii = Keep the Wii + re-create the Nintendo Revolution which is a true next gen HD consoles, that way Ninty will conquer the casuals and harcores :D
Ps3 = secure 2nd and some 3rd party exclusives e.g. Kojima Productions, bring ps2 games to PSN.
microsoft: don't release a broken down product that fails 90% of the time
nintendo: make motion controls optional, less casual games
sony: nothing
Sony
-Have a cheaper price,
-Have a stronger, more well known gaming launch lineup
Microsoft
-Actually take the time to have a long term goal with their hardware
-Release hardware that passes even the lowest of inspection
Nintendo
-Release a new Virtual Boy-- real 3D gaming seems to be the next big step from motion control
-Release the Wii again with better graphics and watch the money flow in
Nintendo needs to keep it's millions of customers happy. And, I frankly have no idea how they are going to pull that off. How do you get the casual market to commit and move onto the next system? The hardcore for Nintendo are long forgotten. MS needs to provide a reliable system that continues to be developer friendly in terms of programming and creating games. Sony needs to get back in touch with reality - once they do that, the rest should be cake for them.
Nintendo - Pay third-parties a lot of money for exclusives.
Microsoft - Up the quality control on your consoles and quit releasing barely-tested hardware.
Sony - Realize that some of us don't care for FPSs and do prefer other genres. Add some variety to your system, and don't make the damn thing cost so much either.
Nintendo - centralized, beefed up online gaming. Greater than or equal to competition's hardware. New hardcore IP's.
Microsoft - built in WiFi. Free or reduced cost to XBL. Greater variety of games. Better hardware reliability,
Sony - Better 3rd party support (seriously, most games look better on 360). Too many SKU's. Watch price
Everyone - don't release a game with motion controls if it doesn't improve the experience. I don't want a collection of mini motion controller games. Make DLC content free or more affordable
Nintendo - Actually innovate with your motion controls or drop them altogether. Cashing in on the novelty absolutely has to stop. More AAA first party games. Get some third party support. Better online. More advanced hardware.
Microsoft - Make your console more reliable. Drop or significantly reduce the Live fee. It's still the best content-wise, but it won't be much longer. More 1st party killer apps. Continue to make your console the one people want to program for. Keep up the excellent third party support. Blu-Ray. Recharage packs that conme with the controller. Wireless mics.
Sony - Step on your online a bit. Charge less for your console. Better 3rd party support. Great launch titles. Stop copying everyone else and innovate.
For all: Scrap motion controls. Just because you wave your arms around like a spastic ape doesn't make a game good.

I agree with this statement. Plus speaking of controls, Microsoft also needs to make a better D-Pad on those, too.
Nintendo- actual next gen graphics. I really dont care what anyone says it was a massive problem with the wii and was the reason developers and alot of gamers didn't take it seriously. If the wii had similar power to the 360 it would have all the awesome multiplats, but with IR wii controls making them have something over the other console versions and maybe it some much better third party exclusives and also it needs better online. If I could go online, play with all my friends with voice chat parties, Switch off from playing mario kart, super smash bros. what ever other multiplayer games nintendo would put out in a similar style to XBL i would play that for hours on end It would be sooo awesome. Also it should come with 2 controllers, 1 standard wireless (none of that classic controller crap) controller and one motion controller, because the wiimote just does not work for some genres and it never will so you really cant force that on people
Sony- Launch at 299$ or 399$ and have a really good launch title list. The ps3s biggest flaw was its slow start. The first year there was really NOTHING to play besides resistance until warhawk and uncharted came out. If it launched at a good price and had an aweosme launch list than it would be an amazing console. Also it cant let ms get a head start
Microsoft- They did what the needed to do with software right, but the really screwed up the hardware. RROD is a massive problem that should never ever ever happen again, and all the stuff you have to buy extra is ridiculous, like the WIFI adaptor, the controller charge kit, and they came out with a HD DVD add on later, which you should never do, never have add ons for your console, they will always fail. They just confuse people, its a big investment to get the system and some 100, or 200$ attachment to do certain things
Sony - Realize that some of us don't care for FPSs and do prefer other genres. Add some variety to your system, and don't make the damn thing cost so much either.
What? I wouldn't say that Sony is dominated by FPS's. There are a lot of action adventure type games. Its usually x360 thats accused of being shooter focused.[QUOTE="Phoenix534"]
