In this thread we discuss our top 10 FPS games we played. rules are, one game per series and no hybrids except FPS with RPG or stealth elements are welcome but hybrids i mean immersive sims, they are different genre (those include Deus Ex, Prey, System shock etc).

I know that’s only 8, however I can’t think of anymore favorites.

I never actually liked Duke nukem because it was wayy too cheesy for my taste.

That was the point, it's a B-movie and parody of action heroes.

Not really a big fan of FPS in general. Mainly because I pretty much never play MP games (last I played was BF3 which I did enjoy). Anyway out of those I've played:

MP never define FPS. SP does. I big fan of FPS since long time if it was only for MP, i wouldnot be FPS fan.

That's true I guess.

I do have another problem though. I went from PC to console a few years ago. And FPS with a controller is just not the same. Doom: Eternal works suprisingly well, but I do feel you are hampered in some ways. Thinking of going PC again and then I think I would get back more to FPS games.

For a console FPS. I think Halo 1 is easily the best one. of course its avg compare to PC FPS but much better than other console FPS like goldeneye, perfect dark etc.

It actually works pretty well, better than one might expect. You do fight most demons at a pretty close range and typically in the dircetion you are running. It’s not a game about precise aiming. There are a few things that do feel hard. For example hitting weakpoints with the scoped rifle and shooting when in the air (ofc there’s slow-mo which helps).

You dofeel a bit like you are wearing shackles. Obv kb/m is way superior.

I can’t abide by this as sequels can vary in quality. For example. Titanfall 1 is a superior game than its sequel. Also, Ghost Recon 1 & 2 are totally different games having little in common with each other.

thats why i made a rule for one game per franchise. theres few franchise that has only one good game like Crysis 1 and FEAR 1 so they automatically mentioned.

I put FPS and immersive sim into different genre. Deus Ex is immersive sim, so is System shock 2, so is Prey.

Half life, Doom, Halo etc are FPS.
