What are the most underrated games of this gen?

For me it's Killer Instinct and Shadow Warrior so far. I love these games more than I like some of the higher rated games available. They're just really fun to play. Maybe they're not technical masterpieces, but they are very enjoyable. What about you, SW? What are your candidates for most underrated of this gen?

There's a game called LISA The Painful that came out two (?) years ago for PC. It's amazing. There hasn't been another game that has made me feel as bad as LISA, and I love it.

SMITE i guess. 3rd person MOBA made by the dev behind Paladins.

I guess it's technically last gen, but Splinter Cell Blacklist never gets enough love. Best stealth game of recent time IMO

Child of Light comes to mind. D4 is another one.

@Liquid_: I was enjoying The Evil Within until I got to chapter 9, I think. It was the chapter where you're in a mansion and wherever you go the main villain guy comes out of no where causing you to run the opposite way. Made me give up on the game completely.

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse (2nd half of the game was released during current gen). Very enjoyable traditional Adventure Game. It has great 2D art style, fun puzzles, great story, stellar voice acting, chilling soundtrack and likeable characters. It was bashed by critics because they were madly in love with QTE games from Telltale and this game was "same old stuff". Users received the game well.

Agree with you on Shadow Warrior. But I played PC version which came out during last gen but if you count Console releases then yeah it's among underrated games this gen on Consoles.

I'm playing it on PC. I just started chapter 15. Story is great.

Story was a nice surprise for me. I expected a fun run and gun shooter but also found story to be quite enjoyable. Hoji and Lo Wang both are great.

Runbow is one of the best party games of this generation.

Runbow can be played both online or locally with friends of up to 9 players, it offers multiple different modes of play, it has gameplay that is simple enough for anyone to pick-up and play so everyone can join in on the fun yet also offers enough depth to reward skill plus has innovative mechanics such as the color mechanic, and it just oozes with charm!

It sadly doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves; I guess with it being a Wii U exclusive yet not made by Nintendo, it goes under the radar. Nintendo should have promoted it like Sony promoted Rocket League.

@storm_of_swords: Nintendo did promote Runbow, it was part of its Nindies program. Nintendo also helped promote their Humble Bundle.

I say Style Savvy is an underrated gem. The media ignored it cause it was a girls game. Think goodness many still found it.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions easily for me.

XCOM 2, it just kinda gets overlooked, but its really solid, especially with all the mod support

I really need to get back to that game.

Rodea the Sky Soldier (Wii ver.). It's my game of the gen.

I also feel that Azure Striker Gunvolt and Freedom Planet deserve more attention.

Not sure Blacklist is underrated, but it definitely gets tarred, mainly by nubywubs playing on the easier settings.

Yeah, Child of Light and Valiant Hearts come to mind for me (I wonder why more of these UbiArt games haven't been released since?!?!?!).

Also Sunset Overdrive. And I personally think Arkham Knight was harshly treated by some. I loved it.

The Wonderful 101, one of the most unique combat engines for a beat-em up, tightly designed sans some annoying wiiupad gimmick segments like going inside buildings n shit, the boss fights are all killer, the punchout homages are well done, it's insanely replayable the way the best Platinum Games usually are, and to Platinum's credit it's probably the best group of characters they've done and an all around enjoyable story for it is. It's saturday morning cartoon and power rangers in the best way, if I had a gripe I'd say the game suffers from some pacing issues, the wonder liner while brilliant can have some odd misfires in some of the fires. It's also a game that does a poor job of teaching the player, I had to go look up a wiki to start really grasping what was brilliant about a lot of the games systems and how they work. And I've played a shit ton of beat-em ups, so I could only imagine how irritating all that shit comes off to people who barely play these type of games.

It's probably one of my 5 favorite games this gen, and easily the 2nd best game on the WiiU for me. Behind Bayonetta 2.

Disgaea is always underrated, so I go with Disgaea 5 on PS4, one of the best SRPGs of all time

Alienation is incredible. It's on sale on psn right now too.

The Swindle came to mind as well. Entirely overlooked by the gaming community, the game has some of the most satisfying cut throat stealth gameplay I've played in a long time.

Batman Arkham Knight, so much hate for the batmobile segments that people are overlooking what Rocksteady did right in the gameplay department for everything else. Like mastering the free flow combat system that let's you use everything in the environment as well as double teaming with the partners. Not to mention that it had the best DLC for any Batman game to date!

It's my game of the generation so far. Mission Mode alone outshines a lot out there.

It looks great much sharper than original doesn't look to far behind 3 in terms of visuals

Game is typically seen as the weakest in the franchise, however it's my favorite I'm more into the lure of the locations you visit in dark souls 2

Alienation without a doubt. Great game.

Shadow Warrior is called a good game by GS with its 7/10 the same as BLOPS3 but there is no comparison imo. BLOPS 3 is a 5/10

Ryse getting a 4/10 is absurd. Its not a great game by any means but even its meta score has it at 60/100. Pure GS low ball-bagging.

@Blabadon: You really should. It's great. It'll make you feel like shit, and you will ask for more.

I won't shut up about it until everyone on here tries it. It's ten dollars and tells its story better than most other games. DLC is also really good. In total it'll set you back like 15 bucks and that's if it's not on sale.
