The thread sums itself up when TC said he thinks it would be easy to upgrade if that were possible on console lol.

In order for the concept to work in a significant way it'd have to be as easy as the RAM upgrade in the N64.

Why would you want an upgradeable console?

That's one of the biggest selling points for the majority of console games is not having to. A console is great because they are all exactly the same and always will be. That means if someone makes a PS4 game they know every PS4 will be the exact same thing and that relieves them of having to have different graphic options, create the engine around multiple hardware parts, every gamer who buys the game gets the same experience, and in cases like The Last Of Us they can make the game really tax the hardware and push it without having to worry about some people playing inferior versions.

Then you have all the people who don't have any technical knowledge and don't want to bother with upgrading or worrying about if they have this, will they need that, they don't want to buy a system and then have to pay more for extra parts and so on. They just want a system they plug in and its done.
