Poll Upgrade PC or buy Xbox? (48 votes)

Upgrade GPU 71%
Buy Xbox 29%

Hello,

is it better to buy Xbox so I can play latest games without any lag or just upgrade GPU that cost same or slightly less than Xbox?

which is better choice.

My PC run almost every game but from now games not running good. and im torn if I upgrade GPU or buy Xbox. plus I doubt my PC run STALKER 2 fine. or any game after that. so it is better to buy Xbox?

lets discuss.

It sounds like you are already invested in PC. Do you prefer KB/M and is it important to your experience? Have you considered the cost of paying to play online? Do you accept the game library of the Xbox? Also, in order to decide, it would be helpful to tell us which GPU you will find for the same price or slightly less than an Xbox. I haven't voted because I don't know enough about your situation and preference.

I didn't vote, because you forgot about the CPU.

It's not just all about upgrading your GPU either. Your CPU is crucial. Your CPU draws the scene and sends the drawn frames to the GPU to render them. If your game is CPU heavy and can't draw the frames, your graphics card won't render them.

If you Lower the resolution and or graphics settings and get an increased frame rate, then your GPU is the issue.

If the graphics or resolution change doesn't increase the FPS then the issue is a bottlenecked CPU.

What are your current specs?

Many on these System Wars forums are obsessed with TF (teraflops) which is only the mark of graphics performance, not CPU performance.

Whichever is more economically feasible. I have a lot of money so PC was an easy choice for me over some garbage like PS5.

What are your current system specs? What country do you live in? You offer too little information, might be a troll thread. Gpu that are about the same price as the consoles are either a 7800 XT or an RTX 4070. But if your cpu and other components suck ass it becomes pointless.

My vote would definitely be upgrade GPU since you already have a PC and a game library.

Whats your CPU though? If you have a super old CPU then you might be better off investing in an Xbox, but even then the CPU would be better than whats in consoles lol

Way too little information there. Need more on the rest of your system as well as what kind of GPU you are upgrading to.

We already spoke about this many many times. If you think that upgrading the gpu will be enough, you're wrong. You will most certainly need a new cpu, 32gb of ddr5 and a new motherboard as well. I upgraded to the rx6800 earlier this year, and overclocked it past the rx6800xt. Now my i5 9600k running at 4.8 is bottlenecking the shit outta my gpu in Baldur's Gate 3, and that game isn't even graphically intensive. New games need new cpu's, and i hear fast ddr5 makes a big difference as well.

And remember, you have never used a controller in your life. A hermit with a controller in their hands will be incapable of controlling their in game character. As a matter of fact, a hermit with a controller is less skillfull than a granny in her late 70's. This is not a joke, its actually true and real. So think about that for a second.

@ghosts4ever: What are your PC specs?

As long as you have a 3rd zen Ryzen 3600+ or Intel i7 8700 or better you should be ok on the cpu front. Now if you have Ryzen 2000 series on a b450/x470 board you can upgrade to a Ryzen 5700 fairly cheap. Not knowing your gpu neither is not helping what would be a good upgrade for you.

I know that Xbox/PS5 allow you to use keyboard and mouse, just not sure if it’s for all games.

Yea, AMD isnt updating the drivers anymore for games for the Ol' 580. Also see if you can find a deal on used gpu's in your area too. At least look for a RTX 2070/ RX 6600XT or better.

Upgrade

Upgrade!

UPGRAAAAAAAAAADE!

I mean if you already have a decent PC and all you need is a component or two, it'd be cheaper or roughly the same cost as a new console.

Even if it were more expensive, you'd reap far more benefits with a PC than a console. Including but not limited to:

  • More storefronts to buy games
  • Infinite backwards compatibility (well, almost infinite...)
  • Cheaper games
  • More subscription services to take advantage of.
  • Game Pass on PC. Yes it's on Xbox of course, but on PC it's better cuz...PC.
  • Larger playerbase
  • Multiuse. You can play your game then alt-tab, put on some music, go back to playing your game or whatever, get to a tough spot, alt-tab and look up a strategy really quick. Could also hook up a second monitor to make it easier.
  • More peripherals. Keyboards, mice, flightsticks and HOTAS setups, controllers, VR headsets, wheels, rudders and pedals...all kinds of cool shit.
  • More future proof, with opportunities to upgrade and customize. PC's are not limited to finite "generations" like consoles.

@ghosts4ever: what do you need to upgrade?

PC without question. All major Xbox games are coming to PC so if you already have a PC, Xbox is useless. I would get a PS5 over the Xbox cause there are exclusives

Without knowing your circumstance, it's hard to say. I have a good gaming pc, not great but decently good. I personally like gaming on my Xbox better than the pc, and not really concerned with spending $2500 on a new gpu or whatever it costs these days.

People try to find fulfillment with junk, but end of the day they are the same, still not any better off or experiencing better gaming or life in general. Better graphics or the latest tech wont necessarily improve your experience, just a way to fool yourself into thinking you are.

With that said, go with what's in your budget, don't spend more money than you need to. There's tons of gaming options out there, and your enjoyment won't really be worse on an Xbox series consoles or the past gen Xbox than it is on pc.

You either want a console experience or a PC gaming experience, what’s there to discuss?

I chose a console because I didn’t really want to go through a full overhaul of my PC when my current does everything but new games. It’s a personal choice.

If you want a console then it’s the simple question of whether like Xbox games or PlayStation games.

You likely need a CPU, GPU and RAM upgrade. That will cost double what the Series X is, but will also outperform it. What matters more, price or performance? That will give you your answer

it's most likely fine if you don't aim for higher than console fps as that's kinda the same level as the console cpu's, some games it runs fine, some cpu intensive games like Darktide you wont be hitting 60fps with any settings, bg3 act3 is most likely 30fps city at best
