I don't care at all about online so I can judge based on that but Reach campaign is among my all time favourite games and Infinite has the best gameplay in the whole series by far.
CE to 4 are good campaigns but nothing amazing. 5 is horrible. ODST is a great idea but the execution isn't great.
Halo 4's campaign was abysmal. There were long levels where they just copy and pasted the same section 3 or 4 times like the one where you used a pelican to get to two different towers or one of the early ones before you escaped on a ghost. Also Prometheans were not fun at all to fight. Reach had a great campaign but worse multiplayer than the previous ones due to bloom, armour abilities that broke maps, and a worse ranking system. They remastered Ivory Tower from Halo 2 yet didn't take into account that jetpacks in Reach would completely break the map lol. The colour palettes used in forge world got tiring to look at as most maps were built in there so 6/10 times you would play on that ugly ass map.
Halo ODST had the best firefight/co-op mode
Reach, ODST or Halo 2 had the best campaign
Halo 1 was great but slightly worse than 2 in all areas
Halo 3 was also great but changing the BR to not having hitscan like it had in Halo 2 was a pain in the ass cause of lag
Halo 2 had the best multiplayer and campaign level design
Halo 4 was a dumpster fire with an ok story
Halo 5 had a terrible story but slightly better level design than Halo 4 and also better multiplayer than 4
Halo Infinite has the absolute worst multiplayer in the series but I haven't tried the campaign yet
