Got you XD

TW: Rome 2 is heading to the SteamOS console. Lol it´s better than PS4 launch line up.

Total War: Rome II will get a Steam Machine version with full Steam Controller support.

The company's Rob Bartholomew has explained:

"We've always wanted the Total War franchise to be enjoyed by living room gamers, but the limitations of traditional hardware made our style of game play impossible," he said.

"Last month, when Valve invited us to test out the new Steam Controller and unveiled their plans for SteamOS - we were impressed. We believe it will provide us with the control fidelity and platform we need to make a living room experience for Rome II that could be a more compelling experience than playing with keyboard and mouse.

"Rome II will be launching on Linux early next year, with full Steam Controller and Big Picture support to be added as soon as Valve gets us a controller dev kit."

Steambox isn't a console. It's a LInux PC, with Steam Big Picture mode, and a controller. I already have a "SteamBox", ie a PC hooked up to my TV with a controller.

Is this the reason why Rome 2 is such a trainwreck ?

They still haven't fixed the game have they? This is probably the worst version of Total War I've played.

Napoleon was much better

Alot of the userbase (including myself) questioned the sudden UI changes.

The ironic thing here is, everything was dumbed down and stripped... yet they managed to make it less comprehensible.

It´s not actually bad after patches. The first 3 patches that arrived in the first weeks, basically fixed the game for me.

In general, the launch of Rome 2 is not even close to be as bad as in case of Empire.

Besides the game has already got the Steam Workshop support. So it´s like Skyrim now, people will fix and improve everything and faster than the developer.

So Rome 2 with mods is actually very good.

Shogun 2 > Rome II

There is a Steam mod that makes UI much more practical and pretty

No, developing for a mini PC is not a valid excuse

So this must mean Steam box will be more powerful than the PS4? Or was just easy cross over job?

I'd rather they fix my PC version first.

The game has gotten infinitely better since patches. After the 3rd patch it was in a much better state and after the current patch (#5) it's a very good game. Sad it took them so long to get it that way.

Apparently the dev said the steam controller worked surprisingly well with Total War when he tried it. It will be interesting to see how that works in the end.

The series is boring to me, so I wont get it no matter what platform they put it on.
