These are the confirmed factions: Greenskin, Dwarfs, Empire, Vampire counts. Each will be unique to the other.

No modding support

Will have flying units

Magic

Use a improved version of the Warscape engine for better graphics and etc

Total War: Warhammer will apparently change the rules of the series as it takes place in a setting of high fantasy for the first time, with monsters, flying creatures, heroes and storms of magic all appearing on the battlefield. The real-time battles and turn-based sandbox campaigns the series is famed for will be returning, naturally, while races mentioned include the men of the Empire, Orcs and Goblins, Dwarfs and Vampire Counts.

Additionally, SEGA has revealed this is the first in a trilogy of titles, with two additional standalone instalments planned to create the single largest Total War experience ever. For a glimpse at the story, check out the debut cinematic trailer below:

"The valiant Karl Franz marshals the men of the Empire, seeking to unite the fractured elector counts under a banner of strength against their common enemies," reads an official synopsis. "Hungry for the vicious brutality of combat, the Greenskins flock to the tribe of Grimgor Ironhide; Orcs and Goblins alike filled with an insatiable thirst for carnage.

"High King Thorgrim orders the stoic Dwarfs forth from their mountain strongholds, marching to vengefully right the grave injustices dealt to them over the millennia. "Yet the motives of the Vampire Counts under Mannfred von Carstien are shrouded in murderous secrecy, his armies raised from the rotting ranks of the dead.

"And while the Old World becomes torn by betrayal, war and the unleashing of unfathomable power, a greater threat still whispers in the winds from the north. The fabric of reality itself begins to rend and buckle…"

Why would we blame this on Sega? At this point the technical short comings of the previous Total War games goes entirely to creative assembly. They've always had their tech issues at launch, but recently it's been made worse. Alien Isolation was sega, and that game by virtue of being a more straight forward scaled back project actually ran fantastic on PC, it was also a well produced game. Now if Sega is the one pushing tight dead lines on them, then I sort of agree, but I get the sense that creative assembly isn't exactly incapable of having a say on when their games release.

Minor flaws are fine. The problem with Rome 2 was its release in broken state. Totally unplayable. Alien Isolation doesn't feature complex gameplay mechanics like Total War games. It's harder to polish something like Total War imo, where not only you but dozens of other factions are making political decisions at the same time. It's like a complete simulation and everything have to work right unlike story driven games where you are placed inside a level to experience what devs want you to.

It's also coming to Steam OS. Please don't dumb it down for Steam Controller. Direct port on Steam OS is fine.

What we want:

Better graphics

Better AI than the last Total War game

Better optimization

True to the Warhammer lore

Have most of the race faction playable with with their own unique units

Bring new features like Shogun 2 and add the ones with like not removed them like Rome 2

Bring back mission cutscenese

I mean that's exactly my point, Sega for the most part has never forced themselves on CA, so they been a pretty cool pub.

As far as recent Total War failures those are tech failures that are entirely on CA. Just because they want to shoot for the moon doesn't mean they get a pass on when they misfire. Personally I think these games have been coming out way too frequently. Shogun 2 was like 2011 or something, and Rome was like 2 years and attila was this year. Maybe another year apart would help, who knows.

This is, hopefully, a game I've waiting on for a very long time :)

Dark Omen was probably the last good Warhammer Fantasy Battles video game.

Also that was a nasty looking Lord of Change at the end, which pretty much confirms Tzeentch as a Chaos faction. I wonder if the other three Chaos gods will be playable on release or whether they'll add them as DLC factions (I know what my money is on). No mention of Elves in the trailer either (more DLC?).

Your loss. Attila is the best TW game in years. Probably as good as Medieval 2 and Shogun 2. I had scored 145 hours of gameplay with Attila, and only 50 hours in Rome 2. And I am still playing the hell out of it.

That's what I was thinking. Elves are MUST in every fantasy game.

EDIT:

If they sold Elves as some sort of DLC later on. I'm not giving them a single penny for that after paying a full price on launch.

Kind of a stupid name

Meh

Bloodborne did fine without having "souls" in its title.

The Dark Knight was highly successful without having "Batman" in the title.

That's different case. Warhammer and Total War are two separate entities. Both are owned by different companies.

Yep. That's a megaton. Sory, MEGATON. TC should have added it to his thread title. I hope they show something else besides trailer on E3.

Total War is the bigger IP here. Warhammer strategy games never were huge hits. Bassicaly they're promoting their Warhammer game with their own's brand.

Yeah that's what I was worried about. It came out so soon after too which made it more of an issue for me. Would have had a nice break by the time this comes though and the Fantasy setting should breath some freshness into the formula.

Lets see how much preorder, chopped up DLC they hide all this shit behind to sour the experience.

It's sad that it's difficult to be excited for a game anymore unless it's an indie title.

Two Standalone games after this. Don't know if they'll call them standalone expansions or full fledged games but original game won't be necessary to run them.

Nurgle and now Khorne are getting all the new miniatures in the wargame for the Endtimes story arc. I'd say it's far past due for Tzeentch and Slaanesh to get some love, even if it is digital love.

I honestly don't know, but it's a fairly safe assumption from watching the trailer. I know Vermintide is.

I haven't played the table top game in like a decade. A couple years ago I went into my local gaming store and couldn't believe the prices. Plus everything was plastic now. I still walked out of there with a box of Empire handgunners, a few paints, brushes, etc.

Supposedly Games-Workshop is pressing the reset button on the Warhammer world so it can be made to work like MUCH smaller skirmish oriented games ala Warmachine and Hordes. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on a large army anymore.

If true I might get back into it then.
