There was a thread about 5 biggest surprises in gaming for you on this thread and it brought back some good memories of some cool games from my past.

I decided to make this thread so that all you guys can remember the good ol' days of gaming. It's about those games that you never seem to forget about. It's about those games that when you look back to when you were a kid, these games come to mind, and a smile is on your face.

What are your top 7 favorite games from your Childhood?

Mine are (in no particular order):

1. Pepsiman (Got this game in a 24 pack of Pepsi I bought. It was a promotion sale. It's like a mix of sonic the hedgehog and Mirror's Edge. Pepsiman was one of my favorite games and I'd play it over and over. Not to mention that looped Pepsiman song was the catchiest tune ever. Pepsiman was a great anti-hero: he tried his best to do great things, but failed most of the time).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7PJ5zwXuaQ&feature=related

2. Crash Bandicoot (One of the best Platformers I've ever played. It's too bad you don't see anymore of this guy. One of my favorite gaming characters and the crazy and wacky settings were awesome. Not to mention the action was fun and action packed. I've bought all the sequels, not the offshoots like Crash Bash or Tag Team Racing, and all of them have been awesomer and awesomer. BOOMBAGA!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgMhVhwidzs&feature=related

3. Riven (sequel to Myst...never knew about this franchise, and I was way too young to even understand some of the puzzles. But I'd always pop one of the 6 disks into my PS1 and look at the awesome scenery...and ride those sweet rollercoaster trains that led you from island to island).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xclfcdMQvu0

4. Vigilante 8 (Such a fun and action packed driving/shooter hybrid. The object of the game was just to destory the other cars and I had so much fun just playing my brother over and over and just destroying him everytime. This is a game that made multiplayer fun for me. The weapons and cars were all unique and fun to use. And I'll never forget it).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PpJujYNGmk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h6K5lAzukU

5. Coolboarders (It was such a hard game for me to play, but it was so extreme and over the top I loved it. And back in the day when I was living in Japan, I didn't know English, so the over-the top american announcer made no sense to me but I still remembered his lines and phrases he blurted out every now and then. Looking back this game blew, but it was one of those games that was amazing back in the day and you just loved).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3-fuYdJczk

6. Tomb Raiders (It's not a typo, that's what the first Tomb Raider was called in Japan. I don't know why they pluralized it, but that's beside the point. This game blew me away in the graphics and action department. And I'm pretty sure I got stuck in the first level when I got it and could only finish it after a couple of years and my gaming skill had gone up. Tomb Raider 2 was also another one I remember. Mostly because on the first level when you are on the great wall of China, I always just climbed the cliff after fighting the tigers and just dove down and broke my neck. For some reason I found it really funny and I never really cared about finishing the game after that...although I did anyway).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-cr_1UlW10&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBf0x_zS-fU

7. Sidewinder 2 (This game was only released in Japan...I think. Damn this game was hard. But it was so exciting and fun to be in a jet fighter and shooting down enemy planes with sweet high tech rockets. The cockpit view was effing amazing to me back then and I never forget how cool I felt playing this game. And the intro was so crazy amazing. I'd pop the disk in just to watch it.)

wow you must be new to gaming (no offense intended here. Just surprised). It's a great time for you to be gaming, but make sure you go back and look at some of the old classics. Get yourself a cheap PS1 and an N64. Look at some of the great masterpieces from those consoles and see how gaming has evolved.

Well, I didn't know if I could include Hopskotch, Tetherball, or Tic Tac Toe. I'm also learning the S.Flute and Chess!

I put the Video games though. You must be psychic or something, but I love good games.

Interesting list, though I feel more archaic when comparing my list to yours.

In no particular order :
1) The Lion King (Sega Genesis)

- Best Disney Movie Game I have ever played. Heck, Best Movie Game Period.

----------

2) Little Nemo the DreamMaster (NES)

- Ridiculously hard for a kid's game (heck, it's hard for even dedicated gamers of this gen), but the gameplay blew me away as a child. Nothing more mesmerizing than gaining control of creatures to do your bidding.

----------

3) Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Genesis)

- The original Sonic, the first, the alpha, the precursor, the BEST.

--------------

4) Monster Lair III (Sega Genesis)

- Great sidescrolling platformer shooter where you get to shoot at lovable monsters with various powerups. Also includes support for coop local player (the way games were meant to be).

-------------

5) Super Mario Bros (NES) and Super Mario World (SNES)

This is the game that has established Nintendo as a true juggernaut in the videogame industry. Many of our gaming days started with this (I was only 3 years old at the time, and beat the game at the youthful age of 4).

The 2D marios really hit a high point with Super Mario World...

------------

6) The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past

This 2D Zelda remains my favourite Zelda game of all time. Fantastic musical score, intelligently designed puzzles and a story all young boys can enjoy.

7) Chrono Trigger

- Acclaimed 2D jRPG by the relic that is SquareSoft, this title introduced me to the immersive world of role-playing games.

I wasn't really into gaming until the PS1/N64 era. When gaming got more mainstream. I still played some of those games and I had a Nintendo Family Computer as well as SNES. But I think I was a bit too young to actually play these games hardcore enough to remember them. Like I said, I got more into gaming around the PS1/N64 era.

You're list is 100% full of game people MUST play at some point in their lives. I would easily give those games 10/10. Mario world, zelda:lttp and chrono trigger especially.

Pretty much exactly what I was gonna post but I was also gonna say mario kart snes, metroid, mother(earthbound), and FF7 still remains to be one of my fav games of all time.

Just think of those really special ones that you remember playing over and over as a kid. I'm not asking for all the great games you've played in your past. Just those games that bring a smile to your face when you remember them. The ones that REALLY give you a sense of nostalgia. I'm sure you can widdle it down to 7.

7. Sonic the Hedgehog - Use to play this all the time back when I visited my mom and stop sibling. Great fun. 6. Super Mario Brothers- Who hasn't played it? Classic NES gaming at it's finest. 5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2- Probably one of the first multiplayer games I've ever played. spent so much time with my sisters playing this. I was so happy when they rereleased in on Live Arcade. 4. Pokemon Red/Blue- Pokemon was big back in the day and it was fun. Red was the first game I ever beat and defeated the Elite four is memory I'll probably never forget. 3. Spyro the Dragon- First full 3d game I ever played. I remember feeling sick the first time I played it. It was a blast. I wish they would rerelease on the Live Arcade or something, I never did beat it. 2. Pokemon Silver/Gold- The pinnacle of Pokemon gaming, Gold and Silver added so much. It's hands down the best in the series. If I remember right I sunk some where around two hundred and fifty hours in that game. You just never ran out of thing to do. 1. Super Smash Brothers- I loved that game. I played it almost ever single day until Melee came out. And I was good too. Beat everyone I ever played with. I'll admit Melee and Brawl were technically better but I had WAY more fun with the original. Probably the most fun I've ever had with a game.

Interesting topic. My list goes like this.

1.Diablo: The game that really got me into gaming. Fantastic game, which is still as fun and polished as it was back then.

2. Command & Conquer:Red Alert: Another game which got me into gaming. Still a fantastic rts.

3. Command & Conquer: I would say the same with this game as with Red Alert.

4: Heroes of Might & Magic II: Fantastic strategy game, which is just as addicting as it is fun.

5. Outcast: A forgotten classic that I still love this day.

6. Super Mario 64: The plumber was ought to be here somewhere, right? Simply the best of Nintendo.

7. Heroes of Might & Magic I: Also a great strategy game.

Brainhunter

nice list for me it was legend of the dragoon final fantasy 9 blackthrone doom 2 unreal 1 Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 Mortal Kombat 2
