Bayonetta 2 is the only saving grace of the year for consoles, everything else was above average at best, or multiplat. PC destroyed consoles this year, whether it wins a GOTY or not.

All I am saying is that if PC games are so great compared to consoles then if PC can't get a GOTY when they are at their worst then what does that say about how "great" PC exclusives are? Yeah...

@lostrib: Divinity was my favorite game this year until I played Mordor on PC. Even with the shit ending, I think that is still now my favorite game up to this point.

Civ Beyond Earth too that was also easy and it's not even a 'thing' yet.

Beyond Earth is turn based not RTS and DOS is not a dungeon crawler so yeah, you failed spectacularly at knowing anything at all about modern games. Good job.

Bayonetta 2 does seem like a great game and the scores are through the roof. It wouldn't surprise me if it took multiple GOTY awards this year.

It's sad when certain fanboys feel the need to hide behind the WiiU, given all the flak the system has gotten over a couple years.

Wii U is still losing to all other platforms. It just shows how overrated a single GOTY is. It won a single battle, but is still losing the war.

Sure there were/was some down time....but thats to be expected. It's only going to get better: Farcry 4, COD:AW, and I think the new Civ game comes out at the end of the year as well.

Let me to put it to you this way. Ever since the Wii U was launched, it was blasted from all sides for being as weak as the 360, having no go to titles, no 3rd party support etc. But now, when it gets a 10/10 here on GS, suddenly everyone is using it as ammo against the hermit faction. The only faction that can crow about this are the Sheep as they are the only ones with a AAAA title as far in this gen. If Bayonetta 2 wins GOTY for 2014 you can bet your bottom dollar that Cows will use it to against the hermits.

I dunno....using it as ammo for console vs PC is I guess justified. But thats like the house on the block that never cuts their grass and the house is run down...but they own the nicest car on the street and going "see our neighborhood has class."

If I ever bring up that consoles have the GotY (if it does get GotY) hopefully I'll remember to put a disclaimer by my statement.

GOTY awards tell you more about game reviewers than they do about the games. PC exclusives tend to be strategy or building games, neither are which are popular with reviewers because of their lack of cutscenes.

This is why Gears of War managed to snag a GOTY in the same year that Medieval 2 was released - despite Gears being such a poor game they couldn't even sell enough on the PC port to justify porting the series again.

And in most cases, PC games are judged more harshly than console ones.

PC hasn't won a GOTY here since 2007? Not that I care personally. Thing is here, I'm picking fault with Cows as they like to chop and change arguments to suit them. First it was Indie games don't count then when Journey won GOTY suddenly they do! Then it was "Sheep can't use Metacritic here, we're on GS" then when TLOU flopped and got an 8 suddenly its A-OK to use Metacritic according to Cows.

If it does win GOTY, cows would be be touting it from the rooftops saying that hermits failed again to have a GOTY yet its on a console that they either don't have or don't want, its on a console that they themselves bashed for being weak and having no games etc. I just find it hypocritical that they blasted the Wii U for ages but now it has a potential GOTY amongst its ranks they now all seem to care about it.

It's ok. We got Star Citizen and buttloads of free mods that enhance the games (in lots of amazing ways) or make them age well in the largest library of quality games bigger than all consoles combined. Thank you very much.

Most of you don't even own a Wii-U .... yet this Hermit does..... we all know the Wii-U is the only console with outstanding exclusives this gen so far. doesn't mean you can hide behind it.

PC > PS4

PC > X1

PC > Wii-U

PS4 + Wii U + X1 = barely ahead... infact, on metacritic each year, is still behind.

again, too much enphasis on a 10/10... neglecting the fact that you get 1-2 "great+" games a year if you are lucky.
