There could potentially be 5 Xbox systems on the market.

Xbox One S

Xbox One X

Xbox One SAD

Xbox Lockhart

Xbox Anaconda

With the S, SAD and X being current gen and Lockhart and Anaconda being next gen

But if Lockhart is rumoured to be the base "cheap" choice, that would mean it would be similar or weaker than the X which is just weird unless it's discless (depends on how the SAD does)

If this turns out to be true what do you think of this strategy?

As is appropriate to call them the PS Bore, PS Bore Poo and next, PS Jive but still, if you're want to be accurate use the correct acronyms. lol :P

I'm hoping the SADE is cheap, since there'll be no DD.

It seems to me this will be the Wii U all over again. They will confuse people with all this variants and the consumer will not know what to buy.

Meanwhile, we'll have the Switch and the PS5 that are easily marketed...

And the SAD edition is already a thing... People are already talking about this outside SW, google Xbox SAD Edition and you'll see it. The damage is already done.

A. SAD will be S spec, so we arent even talking about comparable to vanilla ps4 spec let alone the Pro.

B. PS4 Slim vs SAD will be a shellacking.

C. You can stop pretending to know what PS5s specifications are.

D. Stay tuned on exactly how long the new XBox gets to bask in any spotlight.

Sounds seriously confusing. And I've been gaming for 28 years. Imagine how confusing this will be for people who haven't.

Wii U 2.0. It'll be as confusing as that. People don't see the gaming market like the Smartphones market.

If they ever release an Xbox One R I will pick that up.

It seems to be getting crazy with all these rumours flying around. I think they will have the X2 and streaming box whilst the S will eventually mound into a streaming device.

This is so confusing just like complex game-play was many moons ago. Like game-play these days, press X to win, companies need to keep that in mind and not confuse the low IQ masses with all these options. lol :P

And yet no reason to buy any of them... hmm...

Well it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Sony have at least 4 systems on the market when they bring out the PS5 either. I think that’s just the way things have become in the tech industry these days.

Are you people taking the time to think? When has any console manufacturer with the introduction of a new version or a new console market all of their previous versions in addition to the new ones at the same time? Use a little history to figure out the obvious answer.

@tom-pepper: It's rumored to have 12 teraflops and a CPU that 1000x faster than what's in the X.

Its odd to use a realistic number then follow it up by a ridiculous one.

I hope that 1000x is hyperbole. clocked at 3.2 ghz is a clock increase of 50%. You'd need an IPC increase of 500 to get you 1000 times faster. That ain't happening.

It's dizzying honestly... I'm not a fan of the naming and labels mainly I wish they would just call them completely different things...

LIke PHantom, dolphin , Squirrel ro something.... 360 T/s 360 SP not saying those are real g names but it's sorta confusing IMO.

Microsoft is just "Pulling an Apple" There are different versions of the current iPhone available. The Xbox s will be killed off, The XB1SAD may be short lived. So the Xbox 1 X will be the budget option, The other 2 the entry level and high end "Xbox 4" offerings. Microsoft is the only company that can "pull an Apple" and "Pull a Nintendo" at the same time. Should Xbox live come to Nintendo. The Multiple SKU's won't Hurt MS

All I wanted from Xbox is for it to stay in 3rd place with nintendo fending off Google/apple/amazon streaming consoles.

That whole used game/DRM killed MS in the beginning of this generation.

@PSP107: maybe in the short term(though that was quickly rectified) but the cost of being 100 dollars more for a less powerful system killed them throughout this gen.

MSoft message was anti gaming. In addition to the used game/DRM fiasco, they were pushing TV/Kinect.And of course being less powerful but costing$100 more didn't help either.

They gain some respect when they introduced backwards compatibility. But imagine they had that feature day 1.
