Seriously? Wii? That just sounds so... bleh...
Xbox. Playstation, gamcube, etc. all seem to make sense, and then we have "wii".
Worse named console in history.

...really? Are we on THIS again!? I don't mind it at all. It rolls off the tongue. If anything the 360 and gamecube are stupid when you think about it. The gamecube isnt a cube and 360 makes no sense.
Back in the day, 2006.
Really man, this complaint ended years ago. Just live with the name like others have for 4 years now.
it a way to show people its for everyone. Not many middle age moms know much about gaming. i have to deal with them a lot at work . It being called wii does help them understand its a system for everyone not just core gamers.
While I would prefer the original name (Revolution), I think the name fits the console perfectly. If the name suggests what a console is like, Nintendo has hit the nail on the head with the Wii :P
By the way, I think Xbox 360 and Turbografx-16 are much lamer console names (Xbox 360 having no sense whatsoever).
PLAYstation and GAMEcube make sense.. xbox does not... still..its not as bad as the wii..Seriously? Wii? That just sounds so... bleh...

Its probably the best idea for a console in terms of marketing ever... The worst name actually imo was the Atari 7800... I mean how long are you going to keep going with these insane numbers? Get a name that is a bit easier for actual humans to identify with... it would be a great name for a robot society but not a human one. It was ok with the 2600 around cause it basically had zero competition for a few years and everyone knew it as just atari.. but they needed a refresh in the title especially with the NES around and they just didnt

360 was something about putting the user in the center of the media experience.
Hah! 360 wasn't a Revolution. Shooters Shooters Shooters. Wii was the REAL revolution! Oldschool genres returning and new gamers.Dear EVERYONE:
I thought we were more educated, but a 360 is referring to 360 degrees which creates a complete turn aka performing "a revolution".

wow thats even worse.. at least they got rid of 'Direct'I had to check my wall calendar to make sure this is not 2006... but then yeah, I still find the name totally stupid. Nintendo bet on the "WTH?!" effect and they drove it home. Evil geniuses.
Wii still makes more sense though :PDear EVERYONE:
