...it's only sold 60 million! Wait what? When did PSP go from the joke of a system, to outselling 360 and PS3?

The PSP is one of my favorite handhelds ever released.
the PSP go on the other hand is a completely different story...
Yea I love my psp. I just dont know wat sony was thinking with the go. Wat really hurt it was the dumb price of 250.

I think the price of the games on the PSN store is what is hurting the go the most....Seriously, some of the games that are 40$ on the PSN store Ive found for 20$ or less in retail....
Well, if the Xbox 360 was released at the same time then technically... Anyway, I like the PSP and glad it's holding it's own against the DS. I think they actually have two different market shares at this point. I think the PSP is the better of the two and I think it's safe to say it's far from a failure when comparing it to the DS.
The PSP is fine even if it does have a lack of games some what, the PSP Go on the other hand is terrible.
and the fact that you had to RE-buy the games you alreayd own so you can play them on the PSPGoYea I love my psp. I just dont know wat sony was thinking with the go. Wat really hurt it was the dumb price of 250.

It's hard to call it a "failure" when it sold so many units...the problem is that the DS more than doubled its sales.TeufelhuhnThis. [Nintendo's] Handhelds generally sell more than consoles. Besides, handhelds are cheaper than consoles. It should be expected for more units to sell.
WOW i had no idea it sold so much... i wonder what kind of gamer wast its time playing crapy games on a psp o.Osilversix_What's there to wonder? It has games it doesn't interest you but to others it does :?

If you were buying a go you knew what you were getting into, anyone who bought/was going to buy one and complains about something like that is a nub.
it's a failure as far as handhelds are concerned.

Ya what a failure, i mean it only topped the next highest selling non nintendo handheld by 50 million units and counting, such a pathetic failure.
no the psp is not a failure, unless of course if you compare it to the ds theres no contest at all but if you just look at the psp itself, its a success FILIPINOMAZTER
DS only has twice the sales of the psp, the ps2 had over 5 times as many sales as the xbox or gamecube last gen.
So it's the games that people mock it for?locopatho
It's assumed that the PSP gets mostly ports. And a lot of people bemoan the fact that the PSP doesn't get many shooters and want it to have a second analog stick.
And there your problem you can tell the lack of support for the console any time you go to the store. The best way to tell the system which sell the most games is to see how much of the store space is dedicated to a gamesystem. The PSP has like half a case anywhere you go.It's still selling like crazy in Japan. It's just not getting the same support elsewhere.

The GO is awesome. I never bought a PSP 3000 because I don't consider that monstrosity portable at that size. The Go fits in my pant's pocket. Only downfall is the game prices don't drop fast, but I don't give a crap. The majority of the PSN prices reflect the new retail prices anyway. Sales and used prices are cheaper for UMD, but UMD sucks, and with 16 gigs built into my GO i'll lever need more space or worry about lugging around discs.

It is not just the PSP, but also the DS (all its models combined) that are selling well, so well that they usually dominate the hardware and software sales lists. Japan is the only major gaming market where handhelds are the dominate video game systems.
I think of the PSP as a disappointment than a failure, as it was once thought that it would dominate the DS which it did not. If it has been a failure, Sony would have discontinued the PSP years ago.
the pspgo is not really a bad idea I just wish the pricing would've been fair but the system is very good you can download games and old umds you have you can trade them in for points to download the game.
install extended battery pack that comes with 3 colored back panels. It turns the standard 6 hours into 11-12 hours on the 2k/3k models. the nub is fine, especially on the 3k...I would hate it without the analog as it really comes in handy on 3d games. The PSP is great, I just don't like the short battery life. Or that stupid analog "nub". I just can't get past that..........

Well yea against the beast that is nintendo it doeisnt beat it in sales, but psp is far from a failure. For one thing it still exist and still does get support and sells ok. There is no other handheld out there that lasted longer against the beast nintendo on the handheld market. Most by now dissapeard. I say thats a positive.
you think 60 mill is good
try the 70 mill wii has
and the 130 ds has
and the 140 ps2 has
(wii is continuing to get even more sales in japan america etc) it is on its way to be the third home console to sell 100 m

Mine too :) Crisis Core
I love it when people call it a failure till I post the "60 million sold" link. The PSP love is a bit slow due to Sony focusing on the Move and the PS3, but the games that are yet to release for the PSP looks to be worth the wait.
