IMO Warhawk has to be the most hardcore and gears of war second most.
EDIT: Sorry Sorry i forgot to say "This generation only"

Morrowind
System Shock 2
EDIT: also, Operation Flashpoint. If you do not have this game, go buy it. I'm not kidding. It will run on your computer. It's OLD. Just get it. Now.
Anyone who says Halo should be shot.
Hardcore? Nuh uh. Warhawk has a ton of depth and if you get really good in the Hawk you feel pretty leet, but most hardcore? Naw.
Last gen it would be DMC 1 or 3 and Ninja Gaiden. This gen? Hmm, I dunno, now that I think about it everything is pretty easy. DMC4 on the hardest setting is pretty ultimate... but yeah there isn't that much in the way of super-frustrating games that just beating them is an achievement. Games are so much more forgiving than they used to be.
Have they fixed all the internet problems that Warhawk had? That game was fun, but it was buggy as all shinanigans.Vandalvideo
Bugs? Not in gameplay man. Gameplay has always been dead-on. The server/rank/clan issues are what used to drag it down, and yes, they are all fixed. Give it another go, it's still freakin awesome and it's well-populated as well.
This gen I will say Dead Rising and Chromehounds.IMO Warhawk has to be the most hardcore and gears of war second most.

we can all agree that OFP is the most hardcore title of all timeSCREAMIN_MANTIS
For it's genre (FPS) yes.
But against many RPG's? Apples to Oranges. But OPF is SO up there.

I've never played the game but I still gotta have to say Deus Ex.
I would also place Metroid ( the entire series ), Flashback (Snes), System Shock 2 (PC), Supreme Commander (PC), Out Of This World ( Snes ), Fallout (PC) and Shadowrun (Snes) pretty high.
I've never played the game but I still gotta have to say Deus Ex.

It's 10 bucks on Steam. Give it a pruchase. It takes time to get into it though. I was bored the first few hours. But after that, it's incredible.
Obviously these two: Wii Dark Room Sex GameWii Sex GameSER69I really want to say something, but i know I will get modded.

Yeah I've thought about it. It's one of the two classics I feel I've missed out on. That and System Shock 2 which I never got to finish. I'm however afraid they've not aged so well?

Age is why Deus Ex was a little rough to get into. The combat AI is bad, and the enemies are blind. The graphic design of the levels are bad, but ONLY in the beginning. For some reason, the uglier levels are in the beginning (the park looks particularlly horrid). But give it time. It has aged, but once you beat it, it's beyond worth it.
The first Forbidden Siren is definitely up there. It's pretty much impossible to complete the game without the use of a guide.
Most of the puzzles and extra tasks (most of which are necessary to progress) are extremely obscure and getting through the levels without being seen (and almost always subsequently killed) requires a lot of skill. It doesn't help that the game's enemies don't stay dead either.

Hmm. That's why I gave up on Fallout 2. The combat system confused the hell out of me. I'll give it a shot though! Thanks!
Games that relate to Battletoads.
This generation I suppose Team Fortress 2 if you find a good team to play against.

ZeldaMaster32
Consoles: SOCOM: Confrontation (;)), Warhawk, Gears of War
PC: Counter-Strike: Source (some other titles probably, but I can't run them :P)
Ï'd actually say something like EVE, I don't play it myself cause it bored me to tears from the little I tried, but I know some people who play it like it's their second job and when they talk about it, even I start to second guess what language they're in fact speaking.
Oh, and it was this gen only...well, I think there's some more recent Eve expansion.

There was this Mech simulator for the old Xbox, called Steel Battalion, it was insanely hardcore.
First, to play the game, you need to buy this gigantic controller which consists of a two-piece unit that has two joysticks, a throttle, one analog thumb pad, a radio dial, some switches, more than 30 buttons (that light up), and three foot pedals. The controller and the game together cost over 200$. It takes forever to learn how to use it.
When you start the game, it get's even worse. After starting the mech through a complicated process, you go into battle against other mechs. When your mech get's destroyed, you must quickly eject, or else your pilot will die, and the game will delete all your savegames under the pilot's name. I'm not joking. This is true.

No games are more hardcore than this. It's impossible. It can't happen. Unless it's Steel Battalion 2. Any other way, it doesn't exist.
