What's your favorite Zelda game? Mine's Majora's Mask. (Also favorite game ever.)

Slashkice

I'd have to go with Ocarina of Time. Part of it's nostalgia for my first Zelda game, but I also really enjoyed the duality of young/adult Link in the context of past and future Hyrule. Majora's Mask is definitely my #2 though. Great, great game.

Wrong answer.

Clearly, it's A Link to the Past. :o

I think MM is too obscure in game design and bizarre overall, I wouldn't crown it "The best Zelda game" but it's nice to see people love it. It's usually a "type A" game that gets that nod in terms of general consensus. I see it more like a spin off, so even if it's high quality I'd rather pick another Zelda game that represents what the franchise stands for more.

I don't feel like choosing one favorite since SS is definitely the one!

Possibly. If the interactions with people are anything like the ones in Majora's Mask then I think it certainly has a shot with everything else. It honestly depends on how physically active I have to be when I'm playing the game. I'd at least like to sit comfortably in my recliner. :P

Bolded is what I'm talking about. Zelda is more about environmental interaction, not people, so that's why I think it's sort of a spin-off and the latter is cool as an element of the franchise, not what the franchise mainly stands for. MM is a game that highlights elements which are usually minor in the other games.

It comes down to "What should Zelda be about" so ofc it's all just my opinion.

They're skippable and the actual game is rumored 50 + hours, so it's fine by me. :) And It's coming together really nicely, Might be my second favorite Zelda game, though it won't top Majoras Mask! :P

Legend of Zelda, more like Legend of Movie amirite or amirite??? I'm not good at this :[

On a more serious note, I don't care. I've always enjoyed the story in Zelda games, and I don't think Skyward Sword is going to change that.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: The Movie Inspired by Movie Gear Solid

-----

I don't see anything wrong with this, especially when the game itself is going to last more than fifty hours.

[QUOTE="Timstuff"]

And let me guess: not one minute of recorded voice acting. :| The game looks dope, and when I someday purchase a Wii this will be a primary factor, but it still ticks me off that Nintendo goes cheap on production values when Zelda is their second biggest franchise. Just my 2¢.

charizard1605

Zelda does not need voice acting.

But would Zelda not be better with decent voice acting? :o

As long as we can skip them it is ok. Miroku32

Why would anyone want to skip a cutscene with someone as fabulous as Ghirahim?

I disagree. Zelda is usually heavily related to person-to-person interaction outside of dungeons. Majora's Mask put much more of an emphasis on it in terms of amount and significance in a way (only 3 happy masks were required really, the 17 were optional). Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twlight Princess, The Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, and The Spirit Tracks all had some pretty heavy person-to-person interaction as part of the main story and the more ambitious side-quests and unlockables were through people in the main towns or where people were in general. I would argue that the further you go into the series, the more the interaction with people increases in the games. Majora's Mask just happened to be the peak of that interaction, and since then the series has been slowly moving towards what Majora's Mask did in that respect.

I am a big fan of the Zelda games but I am very worried about this. Sure they have nailed the gameplay aspect of the game, but why should the plot be very focus on a game series that has always been hailed by its gameplay?

Um... Zelda games have always been fairly plot heavy. And FYI, that's less than two hours. Most shooters have about two hours of cutscenes.

What? I just saw the E3 2011 trailer. They clearly copied Avatar with them jumping off and riding their flying things around. And attractive glances at each other. AND it copied part SotC in there to, with the Zelda look alike falling into the mouth of the large dragon, which is clearly from How to Train Your Dragon the movie. BS! Just a bit of fun. :P

Shinobishyguy
Voice acting in the only area that they're skimping out on. Everything else from the graphics to the music looks gorgeous

It's definitely some of the best visuals I've seen on the Wii, and it has come a very long way from those early "ehhh..." screen shots. I also think it's cool that they are doing something really fresh with the story.

That's like 1% of the overall game? The last cut scene in MGS4 was longer than ALL of that. I'm happy with this. A more cinematic approach while not over doing it.

100 minutes of cutscenes in a game that will easily pass 50 hours and potentially go on for 100 hours. I don't think it's too bad.

100 minets with 50 to 100 hours of game play. I think...that...is...AWESOME! CAN'T WAIT.

Seriously 1 hour and 40 minets of total cutscence is not that bad.

How did you two forget the fundamental part of my comment.

Link to the Past is best! WW was great, but DL's points are true. Fetch quest is le lame! I remember thinking that it'd be 8 more dungeons hidden under the ocean...

Major disappointment that was!

About 8 Triforce pieces, each piece requires a chart which requires a ton of rupees eachto translate.

It could've worked if they had the fetch quest inserted throughout the game. But 8 consecutive ones? bleh.

I didn't think it was THAT bad...

Then again I also liked the Water Temple from OoT, so take what I say with a grain of salt. :P

About 8 Triforce pieces, each piece requires a chart which requires a ton of rupees eachto translate.

It could've worked if they had the fetch quest inserted throughout the game. But 8 consecutive ones? bleh.

It was executed poorly, I'd agree, but not "I never want to play this game again" bad. Typically I'd do bonus content by the end of the game and find the shards inbetween as I did do bonus stuff.

That's an hour and forty minutes for a 50 hour game. But it's still a substantial amount for a Zelda game. Wonder what qualifies as "cutscenes?" Oh well, probably wont buy the game to find out anyways.
