L.A. Noire & Max Payne Sequels Teased By Rockstar Parent Company

Long-dormant franchises such as L.A. Noire and Max Payne were referenced during an earnings call with Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, suggesting they may eventually return to the spotlight. Neither of the two aforementioned titles counts as Rockstar Originals, per se; Take-Two acquired upL.A. Noire from Australian developer Team Bondi after Sony lost interest, for example. And, of course, Remedy created the first two Max Payne-starring adventures.

dont care about LA noire since it was trash movie game but HOLY CRAP!!! Max Freaking Payne 4!!.

Do it. please be true.

Can't wait for Zynga to make Max Payne and LA Noire mobile games.

Take Two is the worst company of all time. The only part of them I care about is Private Division, all the other publishing labels can get rekt.

Why would Rockstar release a video game before 2035 when (hopefully) GTA5 cash cow will be empty?

I loved Rockstar when Dr Dre was on the radio and when hip hop culture was made fun of.

They have become the greed fueled company that GTA 3, VC, SA, GTA IV always made fun off :(

As much as I'd love another Max Payne...I just don't see it happening.

That’s great news. I actually enjoyed LA Noire. I just like mystery solving and they did a good job implementing that.

They can't even port decade old games to modern hardware so how are they supposed to surpass something like Max Payne 3?

I never played max Payne 3 but loved max Payne 1 and 2. I heard rock star took a different approach to max Payne 3 than the gritty depressing story of 1 and 2. I preferred the way remedy told the story, it was great. Real shame Rockstar bought it out.

Id likely buy a remaster of MP 1-3 on a new engine like MP3 had, Id probably go for Max Payne 4 as well tbh. I never cared much for L.A Noir.

I'd play more of both of those. MP3 was awesome. people who complained they turned it into a cover shooter played it wrong.

LA Noire I didn't finish but it was at least unique and I mostly enjoyed it. fell off later on when the badly designed action segments started getting more common

How so? The mechanic along with the on-the-rails stuff felt out of place to me. I did just ignore its wall-cover, but otherwise didn't like its implementation.

I would like some MaxPayne reboot, maybe even in first person. Actually, first person slow motion would be awesome if the animations are well done, and knowing its Rockstar, animations WILL be great.

I want May Payne is first person. Give it to me, but don't sell it to ghost.

Another LA Noire has potential since Team Bondi isn't on it anymore.

I found playing it with a mouse + keyboard, I was able to shoot-dodge my way through the entire game. and the ragdolls made it hilarious.

I get the complaints about the on-rails stuff, didn't bother me so much since I enjoyed the story but I can see why it bugged others.

I had 0 issues with the actual gameplay though.

I agree it ended perfectly. The only way I can see Rockstar bring back Max Payne is if they do a proper remake of the first game built from the ground up or imagine a Max Payne VR game that would be cool too.

Remake of Max Payne 1 in new Engine HOLY CRAP!!!

A man can dream. MP1 atmosphere, story, gameplay all scream 10/10 combine them with todays graphics/tech sound like most perfect game any developer can do.

It has but gameplay is so and so good that i didnot concentrate on it. doesnot stop max payne 3 from being masterpiece.

Never finished LA Noire but it was a pretty unique experience. And a great source of memes. I'd be curious about a sequel.

Yeah, either a mobile game or a remaster. Won't be a new entry.

While it wasn't a "movie game" per se, the plot was basically just a mishmash of movies. Although I also thought it was decent enough. Really good even.

Problem is they basically stole the plots from so many noir movies, not really sure where they'd go with a sequel. That game just seemed like a one off. I guess they could make a better tech demo of a game, due to the usual refinements of gameplay and more stuff to do, but since the "cases" in the game already did all the main Hollywood noir movies, not sure how that would work again.

The atmosphere would most likely be ruined. I wish developers would leave good games alone.

I love to see a LA Noire game set in NYC and take place around the mid 90's it would have a NYPD Blue tv show vibe to it.

LA noire was barely even a game. just facial expression simulator. it was so easy and casual and it being movie game doesnot even have interesting story or characters.

this is why LA noire has been forgotten by everyone and no one mention the game at all.

It could just follow another beat cop's rise to notoriety. And maybe at some point, we'll discover that Cole survived.

I think the hardest part of making a sequel is deciding whether to bring back the facial animations. Apparently that was one of the most expensive parts because of the face capturing tech they used.

Max Payne was a great game. Max Payne 2 was a phenomenal game. Max Payne 3 was disappointing trash that had none of what made the first two games so good. I have no interest in a Max Payne 4.

LA was probably the most linear and contrived open world game I've ever played, and it is a damn shame because I love the film noir motif.

You can royally **** up any of the investigations yet the game will only ever have the same conclusion, completely contradicting your investigative skills (or lack-of). There was zero consequence to your own actions.

You have an entire open world to explore, yet if the story isn't where you're at, it's nothing more than a hollow shell.

LA Noire is such a chore to play.

Being Rockstar's best game isn't impressive. They make shitty games that happen to look pretty, have killer soundtracks, and here n there tell a decent story (the Red dead games). But the playing it part? Snore town.

@ghosts4ever: I am a big fan of Max Payne games (I liked the first one the most). I'd love to see a new one.
