What a game system the Xbox 360 was- arguably the best and most important, most influential system of the modern era, the Xbox 360 came and changed gaming forever, indelibly. So much of what we love about gaming today owes itself back to the Xbox 360- from Achievements to integrated online play and online communities, from indie games to the proliferation of so many modern game franchises, from third party friendly game development policies that completely changed the game to even the system's iconic controller design, widely considered to be the greatest ever- the Xbox 360 was a triumph. It will go down in history as a classic system.
On the system's 10th anniversary, which is next month, it is good to celebrate all that it did right- but more importantly, it is important to celebrate the games on this system. And boy, did it have games. Thousands and thousands of games, digital, retail, indie, AAA, western, Japanese, you name it. All the best games of the seventh generation were either only on, or first on, or best on, the Xbox 360- it forever changed the game. And from this library, we will try to pick out the ten best games on the system, in celebration of its legacy.
Given such a massive library of so many great games, it is probably hard to try and pull out games- how do you do that? There was so much on it. Well, we have done it for the PlayStation 2 and the SNES, and those systems were every bit as great as the Xbox 360. We did it then, we will do it now, again.
And how? Why, by using the System Wars Votes format, of course.
This is how this works:
- You must nominate three Xbox 360 games- the order of your nominations is very important, since the game nominated first will get 50 points, the game nominated second will get 25 points, and the game nominated third will get 15 points.
- If you list more than three games, only the first three games will be counted in the order they were listed, and any subsequent games will be discarded. If you nominate less than three games, your post will not count towards the tallies.
- Any officially released Xbox 360 game counts. This includes games that released in only one region, games only released digitally via the Xbox Live Arcade Store, and multiplatform games as well.
- You are free to make edits to your nominations once they have been made! However, if you do so, please make sure to make a note of them in the post itself, so I can update the tallies accordingly.
- No more than one game from a series may be nominated.
- You need to have been a member of Gamespot for at least 90 days and/or must have a post count of at least 100 posts in order for your vote to count.
- You have until November 19 2015 to get your votes in!
Got it? It's pretty simple! Let's go guys!
