"The 2015 was the best year for Steam yet.

It brought over 3000 new games (compared to 1900 in 2014), increased the number of concurrent users on Steam from 8M to 12M and helped over 350 million paid games find new owners.

The number of monthly releases on Steam stopped growing

Remember the graph with growing number of monthly releases on Steam that scared every indie? Well, this number stopped growing.

Indiepocalypse is cancelled, you can stop worrying now.

Paid Steam games market was worth over $3.5B in 2015

Not every dollar is going through Valve though, as some developers are selling their Steam games off Steam. And remember — this figure doesn’t include free-to-play titles or DLC! PC worldwide core games market is estimated to be around $27B in 2015 (Newzoo). So, including Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 revenue, Valve is controlling around 15% of it. Pretty impressive!"

@charizard1605: You have to agree that PC gamers have a better taste in gaming.

No, 'better' is subjective. I do agree they are far more willing to give more varied games a try than console gamers.

Holy shit.

Glad to see best sellers aren't COD, FIFA, Madden and AssCreed.

i have about 7 games on STEAM.Got super cheap deals a couple years ago.My issue is "like many people",STEAM is not secure when it comes to longevity. AND they dont promise to give us a way to download our games if they were to go out of business. SO sure you can get good deals but in the long run you dont own anything. Its the same with buying cloud storage. I cant see dropping money on something thats no more secure than my hdd..Its something I struggle with all the time. There are literally TONS of games I want to buy but just cant do it. Am I alone here? OR are others of you constantly worrying OR concerned with these issues? OR does spending money on things you dont own not an issue for you??

Uhhh... no. I don't worry about this. I don't think many people do. I doubt you're alone though, but you're definitely in a small minority. The odds of Sony folding or Microsoft ending their Xbox program and leaving console games to pound sand is about as likely (probably more likely) than Steam going away at this point.

Also, many game son steam do not require or use Steam DRM. That means you can back them up to disc and if Steam goes belly up tomorrow, you can still install and play them.

Cloud storage btw is a HELL of a lot more secure than your HD. Cloud storage usually stores your data and backups of your data across various drives and different physical locations. Your data is also typically encrypted with very secure algorithms. Even if you take the time to backup everything on a separate NAS WITH redudancy RAID at your home, all it takes is a fire or theft, or a bad power surge, and all your data is gone.

Revenue won't be exact. But I'm sure Steam racks in lots of money.

With more and more developers and publishers making it over to steam. And more and more games making it over to steam, it's clear people are spending a lot of money there.

The amount of games and developers on steam grows exponentially each year. It's just unstoppable.
