so on 2011, Sony finally did something MS did in 2009 amd where do you get that they can identify the current hackers from the article?
I am happy they are doing something about it, but I am even more happy its not a big concern of mine as I mainly play MP games on PC. Although I do want to play tons of Uncharted 3, so that better be hacker free :P
Too bad wanting to ban hackers doesn't equate to actually banning them.... And to be honest it was already against the terms of use for using PSN so I really don't see how this changes anything in the slightest, other than the fact that now they've issued a warning (and a fairly pathetic one knowing the mentality of alot of hackers).

Shh, it destroys the illusion to the fanboys that Sony actually knows what they are doing...
I don't think they've ever been threatened by hackers until now. Unless you're confusing hackers with glitchers.so on 2011, Sony finally did something MS did in 2009 amd where do you get that they can identify the current hackers from the article?

Yay??? Nothing has changed. If they were not doing this before now then I have to say that is pretty stupid on Sony's part... There is a difference between legal action and enforcement of the ToU. Jailbreaing is a violation of the ToU which means that Sony has every right to ban users from the network. The issue is that Sony has spent months now trying to define Jailbreaking as an illegal act, which isn't going to go anywhere... If they are only now starting to ban users then they are even more incompetent than they demonstrated with the security flaw that allowed the Jailbreak in the first place(which honestly was embarassing, but understandable in the context of a project that large)...
You would have figured though that if Sony actually had a way of finding the hackers that they wouldn't issue a warning at all and just catch them when they slip up (similar to how Microsoft suddenly updated their copy protection in an update catching a fair portion of people playing pirated copies of BLOPS with their pants down).
All warning them really does is tell hackers that:
"We might have a way of finding you in which case we just tipped you off so you can just find that out and get around it, or we might not have anything to find you and we're just trying to scare you and this whole thing is just a pointless reiteration of the TOU, in which case: haha made you look."
It just seems utterly pointless no matter what way you cut it.
Wow, I was wrong, it was actually 2008

So I was wrong about banning/bricking. The point is MS did this same thing years ago and yet people are gloryifying Sony for being totally clueless..

Let the cows live in their dreamworld becaue now there is a way to connect to PSN with cfw which sony won't be able to detect. I'm not gonna explain how but all you need is a pc and ps3 connected with each other.

I'm not gonna say why they can't detect it because then they know what to look for to detect it.
wouldnt you want to help them ban cheaters online?.If Sony was as smart as you insinuate they are they wouldn't need help....wouldnt you want to help them ban cheaters online?TintedEyes

wouldnt you want to help them ban cheaters online? Hackers and cheaters aren't the same thing. PS3 hacks are done through hacking save games. Which doesn't require anything but a usb stick.wouldnt you want to help them ban cheaters online? As for the new PSN hack they could very easily see this. Just look for the modified crt file. i5750at4Ghz
If Sony knew about tbis they would have blocked it already just like with the DNS trick. But once again the people Sony are not smart enougjh and are being outsmarted by hasckers. Sony and their scare tactics. I laugh in Sony's face for their incompetance.
I have never understood why people hack and go online.
Kahuna_1
Because they have very unfulfilling lives. They make these hacks so they can go online and make themselves feel powerful and the center of attention since nobody can stop them, which is normally completely opposite of them in the real world.

I never thought of that way. I usually found it amusing that the kid who has a 15th Prestige in BlackOps acts like he's fooling everybody...[QUOTE="Kahuna_1"]

I find nothing pathetic about it. If someone has fun with cheating online who am I to call him pathetic?
I have seen my fair share of cheaters on the PC and you know what? I don't care if they find it entertaining then let them be. It's just a game.
