Sony says no to PS+ members stuck with a PS4

Despite Oddworld Soulstorm being available for PS4 and PS5, Sony has opted to make the game exclusively for PS+ members with a PS5. 😮

**PS5 console only; PlayStation Plus benefit not applicable for Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS4.

I guess Sony is even making games exclusive on their own service and platform. PS4 owners are stuck with games they have already played. Thank you Sony. 😂

meh...nothing new with Sony. They've been locking games behind services since PS Now.

I’m not interested in this game one way or the other myself but yeah that’s a pretty lousy thing to do.

There is a way to get em if you don't have a PS5. Just download the PS App on your phone and then add to library. This is what i did before i got my PS5. Not sure if it will still work this month, maybe Sony fixed the trick

I didn't know you had a PS4.

You can always claim a game for whatever platform when it's on plus even if you don't own the hardware yet. This is a cool workaround but still requires you to buy a PS5 to play the game.

Sony in full desperation mode, trying every trick they can to force people to buy the inferior PS5. Xbox and Gamepass is smashing it on all fronts.

Must suck for the PS5 fannies, knowing they have the weaker system with no games. Time for the few remaining to now claim they are PC guys, like some of the others idiots in the herd have been claiming for a while now.

MS marketing should jump on this issue of "leaving gamers behind". What makes this practice worse is that the game is also on the PS4. If it was exclusive to the PS5, it would make sense but it isn't exclusive.

@Pedro: Don’t have one yet and like I said I’m not interested in the game myself anyway. Just saying that it’s a lousy thing for Sony to do for PS4 owners who are interested in the game.

Every time a console does well and leads the market, these companies follow up with their successor in a bad way.

They want to sell PS5s. This is a crappy way to do it.

I remember doing this with another game. I used app for the PS5 version and added it to my account, then downloaded it on PS4.

I believe they did this with the PS3 back in the day if i'm not mistaken ... they had exclusives for PS4 games on the service ... but yeah, terrible move, at least add games that are not available on the PS4 instead of letting your own costumers out ... Personally i'm not interested in this game, but i would be extremely angry if they did this with FFVII.

It's almost as if a giant multinational conglomerate isn't a everyone's buddy and wants to push consumers to new hardware to increase profits and sustainability.. That's shocking. Quite shocking indeed.

That factor was probably how they could afford to negotiate it for PS Plus for April. Is there a way for PS Plus members to still claim the PS5 version for when they get one later, maybe through a PC browser? And maybe then it be accessible on PS4?

Not entirely sure. When it unlocks tomorrow we will find out. It would suck if it is only claimable on a PS5.

There are already videos on You Tube of other PS5 games being added to a library without owning a PS5.

All you have to do it log into your account on your PC. If you try it on your PS4 it won't let you add it but as your PC account doesn't know what hardware you own then it allows you to add it to your library.

This must be false as cows keep saying Sony are good guys and pro consumer.

Don't worry, the second poster would find something to praise. I wouldn't be surprise if it is an old game or a rental. The two things he complains about when it is not PS.

Since when has the console market leader been the ”good guy”? I’m not excusing Sony at all, but when MS was the console market leader, they too had some very shady practices, just like Nintendo.

@ermacness: Bingo! They're all bad. Championing one soulless corporation over the other, and actually thinking one has good intentions rather than profits in mind is a fool's errand. It's not like they ALL Don't use adult and child slave labor to get cheap components and maximize profits. Even ignoring all the shady buisness practices each of them has done in the past, It still doesn't really put any of them in the "good guy" category.
