This is just off the top of my head, they could easily fill a roster and then some. Most of Sony's characters are pretty recognizable and a Sony smach bro's would be super awesome. How interested would you be in this?

Oh, and Solid Snake was already in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and he is owned by Konami.

Could they fill out a roster for a SSB clone? Sure. Would the roster be more popular than Nintendo's and would the game be better? Let's just say I'm dubious.

For example, ToeJam & Earl are owned by TJ&E Productions co-founder Greg Johnson, not SEGA Corporation.

It could work at some level, sure, the impact in the gamer community, the overall popularity, and i would dare to say that even the quality of the game wouldn't top any Smash game, but i won't deny that it could be a fine idea.

What makes Smash so good isn't just the characters, but its party style fighter gameplay. And that's kind of hard to replicate.

I'm not sure if it would work in a fighting game. It would be crazy to see a nut like kratos fighting Sly Cooper. ;)

Plus with some of the characters that are in Sony games, the level of violence and gore *cough*kratos*cough* would have to go above Super Smash Bros. games.

Not to mention outside of people that are deeply involved in gaming, alot of those characters are not well-known.

It COULD work in an action adventure game like someone mentioned earlier, but the whole idea just doesn't seem....Sony-ish.

The copyright section on the back of your game boxes usually helps. For starters, Heavy Rain isn't owned by Sony, nor is Quantic Dream. But Quantic Dream owns the Heavy Rain IP.

First off to everyone going, snake isnt owned by sony LOLOLOL.. snake is owned by konami but u see nintendo still using him so why cant sony?

Second, to all who say sony dosent have NEARLY enough characters, think about this. Wario, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi, and Dr. Mario all basically came from 1 IP. So if sony were to follow through like that you could see, Ratchet, Clank, Quark, Kratos, Zeus, Athena, Hades, and Hercules. Thats more than enough Characters to chose from. Also think Captain falcon was a driver, not even a fighter, yet they still gave him moves. Sony could use the drivers form twisted metal series to fight as well.

and lastly, to everyone going. Well it wont be as fun as brawl... how do you know?

Back on topic, this idea is amazing. It'll be perfect for gamers. Kratos, Cole, Hitoshura and a whole slew of SMT characters (who says they can't have 3rd party characters? ;) ), Snake, FF characters (again 3rd party), Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Nathan Drake, Nathan Hale, Sly Cooper and gang, Killzone characters, God Hand characters, Zone of the Enders characters, Nariko and gang (Ninja Theory is now 3rd party) and other possibilities are characters from DMC, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Onimusha etc - What more do you want? Everything from vengeful gods to wicked mechas.

It should be great for older gamers too.

For crying out loud, IPs, IPs, IPs.

Do people not know what "IP" means? It means intellectual property. Even though Insomniac developed those games in question, they do not own the IP rights to any of them; Sony does. This is not the same situation as Heavy Rain being owned by Quantic Dream, who found Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to publish it for them. The only rights that Sony owns to Heavy Rain is publishing rights, nothing more. So Quantic Dream can make the sequels to the Heavy Rain IP multiplatform if they want.

You must always double check copyright information on the back of your game boxes to prevent confusion like this. Mass Effect 1 isn't coming to the PS3 because Microsoft Game Studios published it. The Mass Effect franchise is owned by Bioware (who was then slurped up by EA). As you can see, Mass Effect 2 is going to be on the PS3, and that is because Microsoft does not own the Mass Effect IP.

They have enough their for maybe 25 characters I think that is as many as they had in Melee. Also those are from different genres and almost all of Sony's first Party developers are represented.
