Yuji Naka, the creator of the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' series and 'Ivy the Kiwi?' expressed interest in returning to work on hardware. Speaking to CVG today, Naka said, "I'm hoping to work on Dreamcast 2."

If it launched with Shenmue 3 I'd buy it DAY 1!

there isnt place for 4 consoles,especially now that almost every game is multiplatform,i see this interview as a plead for a job in sony or ms in the hardware department not a dreamcast 2 referance

i wish sega would come back though, but i dont want sony or nintendo backing out,for ms i couldnt care less since their exclusives can come to pc instead(but dont see that happening)

Sega's 1st Party strength is not what it used to be, and is a bit depleted from what they were.

If a stronger Sega back then couldn't save the Dreamcast, how would a weaker Sega today fare for a DC2?...I don't think it's a good idea, but then again, I would probably buy it, just to add it to my collection.

How sweet would it be if Nintendo and Sony released a console? NOBODY would buy an xbox.

I'd support it. Gaming for the most part has been boring this gen. I would like to see arcade gaming come back to consoles.

Nope, NES era over here.

Its something people cant seem to comprehend.

I like SEGA alot, but theyre just not good enough to compete with Sony/Nintendo. What they release would be nothing like the Dreamcast (accept in name).

Id rather they take that money and invest in more games for current consoles (Valkyria, Yakuza and Phantasy Star in particular).

If that were true they'd finally drop the prices of their games. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is still going for full price.

They can't even make a good Sonic game anymore. Doing a new console would probably be disastrous.

This gen they are slowly turning to the dark side since Wii is a money maker , but overall they have been very consistent as a quality dev since 80s. But yeah, at the end they are just another $company$.

I'll give them props though for actually releasing affordable products out of the gates. Sony really screwed that up with both the PS3 and PSP.

Sega doesn't even have the assets to make a new console, much less take the risk of blowing away the whole investment due to the lack of space for a 4th console. I don't see why people continue assuming Sega can pull it off again, the people who probably created the first Dreamcast are probably gone from Sega by now. It's not like they'd keep the R&D team for the Dreamcast around for nothing. They're software now, you'll more likely see EA or Activision create a new console than Sega, as terrible as that sounds.

actually, gamers not supporting Sega when they heavily invested in amazing games (see shenmue) is what cost sega millions. Fans didn't know what they had until a sour replacement (MS) tried to fill it's shoes but people support them just because they are an american company.

That is true, but Sony harbors some really great game developers. Where sony defeats MS is when it comes down to putting the $$$ into the games. The original playstation was such a great console in just about every way imagineable. A lot of the features and reasons it was produced was out of developer need. It caused quite a few nintendo loyalists to venture away from the console.
