Most games are not performing both 1080p and 60 fps at the same time...., as boasted by fanboys for years.

Launch titles are flopping all over the place, from 4.0 to 7.0 max.

yeah i guess. i wouldn't mind launch titles though. they usually wont deliver. 2014 is gonna be great.

there is AC, BF, COD and Fifa out for both consoles.

Xcom: Enemy Within is better than any next generation game. Kiddies being shallow and easily distracted, don't care. It's all about Killzone (7) and Dead something or another.

there are true gems on consoles too, like Dark Souls. we just need to wait for that stuff for current gen...

1. Launch titles for consoles are always shit. The last truly great launch title for a console was the original Halo. This gen, however, had some pretty good multiplat launch titles (AC4, CoD Ghosts, BF4) but the exclusive offerings were poor.

2. PS4 sold 1 million in North America alone in one day. That is the opposite of a flop. I know Herms love to think console gaming is on the way out but this definitely proves consoles are going to thrive this gen.

I think review sites are trying to be legit now in their scores and stop giving 9's to every game that comes along. People got spoiled this past gen to the point where 9 became the new 7 while 7 became the new 5. Here's the actual scale:

4 = poor

5 = mediocre

6 = fair

7 = good

8 = great

9 = superb

So really, all these games getting 7's and 8's are actually good to great games in the eyes of the critics. The 5's and 6's are average games. This is how it should be scored. I just hope they stick with this and don't start getting all happy again and torquing the scale.

Doesn't matter to me. I wanted to experience a console launch, day 1. The fun in that alone made it all worth while. On top of that I got 6 new games to play + downloaded ones on PSN. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

@groowagon: Yeah the consoles may have these games but why not go for something original, jesus. Assassins Creed FOUR, Battlefield FOUR, Killzone FOUR, Call of Duty TEN (Maybe, lost count after a while), Forza FIVE, and not to mention that these sports games are released EVERY year. Back in the day launches generally had completely new IPs in addition to their sports games.

Neither console has a system seller and generally speaking the multiplats are the best games available.

This is why you don't buy consoles at launch. There's certainly little reason to own both right now. Pick one up now, get the other in 6 months to a year. You won't miss anything important and you won't have $400 or $500 tied up in a platform that's getting little use because of a lack of software worth buying.

At least ps4 flops have a graphical leap from current gen. Xbone is just flop while looking like a 360 title

Id wait a bit before calling them both flops. Launch games are usually not very good, and the x1 still has their two biggest games unreviewed by gs so far.

Yeah, launch titles aren't usually the best examples of generation leaps, specially when it seems that most of this games are being rushed. So far i would say they both flopped in the scores department, but the games will get better over time.

Oh, and i'm not saying the games are entirely bad.

Sad that new IP, well for Knack, didn't do so well in launch. Don't know about Ryse, but I'll wait. Anyway, I can't say the launch for both is good, though I do think PS4 is weak and I somewhat regretted getting KZ:SF but oh well. As for One, I can see myself having fun in DR3. To be honest, I thought it will be a disaster or big flop, but it's actually a good score from all around and even here. So I guess I can say One is at least passable in launch. At least it has variety that are currently new, such as fighting, racing, shooter, etc. Of course, this is all my opinion, so to each of their own.

that's a general problem with gaming these days. publishers are afraid to take risks and that's business. those sequels still recieve great reviews and sell like hot cakes, so why not? mainstream rules the markets. mainstream has the money.

Nah far from it. PS4 sold a million in 24 hours, significantly breaking all records before it. Xbone will probably sell better at launch than any Xbox before it (not as well as PS4 though). Yea, the exclusives aren't all that but the multiplat selections are way better than we've ever gotten in previous gens not to mention the excellent F2P offerings on PS4.

This sounds like a jealous Hermit thread. These new consoles are going to be successful (PS4 is already wildly successful). This whole "console are dying" nonsense really needs to end. It's only hermits that believe this garbage the rest of the world is really eager to play on consoles.

Yea, there are several 1080p/60 fps games on PS4 already. KZSF MP is 1080p/60fps.

I never expected 1080p/60fps to be a standard. To many devs, that's just a sign of untapped power... they'd continue to push games until they're down to 1080p/30fps. It's not a reliable sign of weakness at all.
