Which one has more players online? Do either have matchmaking?

The only 2 reasons that i ever heard of for gamers to pick the 360 version of a 360/pc shooter, is that they do not have a capable PC or their friends bought the 360 version.
So if that is not the case, i don't see why You would not go for the PC version.
Get if for PC here is list of why its better in no particula order:
1. Larger communityone of the mostp layed games on pc and most likely severla times a many people play on pc then 360.
2. Better controls- thanks to the un matched speed and accuracy a mouse grants. xbox users need to press a key to do a 180
3.Better graphics and framerate- xbox verison is like the game running on low/med at 30fps pc version can go 60fps+ and run at high graphic settings with AA and at a much higher reoslution then 720p and is not to demanding to boot.
4. Free DLC the pc version has gotten alot of updates and free DLC on xbox you must pay for it and wait for ever for updates if you even get them at all
5. User made maps - you can download alot of free usermade maps and campaign giving the pc version alot more content.
6. Mods/Skins- Stuff like 8 and even 12 player co-op for chaotic fun only on pc version can custom look of weapons and character and zombie skins by downloading for free. so all in all the pc version is defintly far better!
ok, cool
since the 2nd one is coming out in 2 weeks, should I just wait for the 2nd one?
hi_im_dave
You could, as it adds more to the game. However the 1st one is still fun. I say wait for the 2nd, and then wait for a great Steam deal on the 1st.
Steam has some awesome discounts.
2. Better controls- thanks to the un matched speed and accuracy a mouse grants. xbox users need to press a key to do a 180

actually L4D2 is relies heavily on melee combat which does not work as well /w keyboard and mouse. Everything else was correct though.

i disgree i've played l4d alot on pc and never had a problem using melee just got to right click my mouse its like second nature to me and works very well imo i dont think i've every heard anyone complain the melee did not work well on pc.console may have better movement but its a not big deal as wasd is more then adequate. and keyboard does have the advantage of giving you a ton more keys then a gamepad. Besides in an fps the ability to aim quickly and accurately is most important and the advantage of a mouse over an analog for aiming/controlling camrea is alot bigger then gamepad analog over keyboard for movement. so a small sacrifice in movement while a big gain in aiming and alot more buttons on a keyboard the a gamepad.

LOL. Every part of the controls works better on PC. Every part. If someone has the option of L4D on the PC or 360, it should be PC every time.
well pc Cheaper+mouse and keyboard Also according to steam stats Left4dead seems to peak at about 20000-25000 concurrent online adamosmakiO.o What are you looking at? When I'm playing there's usually 8k online. Never has the numbers came anywhere close to 200k. Looking at the Steam Stats the peak today was 15k.
To TC, it doesn't matter which has the most players because both version will have more than enough to find a match for any campaign and both communities offer a challenge (L4D still makes the Top 10 charts for 360...ofcourse it has heavy competition). I suggest going with where your friends are. :3 L4D is a team game, and it's always funner playing with friends.
just compared 360 and pc demo and heres what i think (i was playing pc demo with everything maxed out at 1080p with 8xAA)
Pc version looks better obviously but much better? no. the only major difference is jaggies, i had 8xAA enabled on pc and everything was super smooth with no jaggies while 360 has alot of jaggies. other then that 360 version is really close to pc except some colour differences. controls work great on both, im ok with using pad on 360 and KB/M on pc. also pc version doesnt lag at all....looks like valve has kept crap servers for 360 while keeping the good ones for pc lol. after playing the demo on both i really cant decide which version to get

i have to agree with the melee part, feels kinda weird to use the right button for melee, the left trigger on 360 is much better for melee.

You just played it on PC for the first time. You'll have to excuse me if I don't take your opinion too seriously.

How in the world do you figure that melee works better on a controller?
I play both PC and consoles and I've always found first-person combat of any kind works better with a KB/M. Melee included (I actually experienced this recently having played both the PC and 360 versions of Borderlands. Meleeing is so much better with a KB/M)
