Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms = Sleeper Hit Isometric Action RPG

I just purchased the Early Access (pre-Alpha) version of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms on Steam today, and the game is awesome!! I highly suggest trying it out if you like Isometric Action RPGs.

I can't believe this game hasn't gotten more press. It's really really good even in its current state!! And it has great graphics/art style as well!!

Yup , it's on my radar . Will check it out once it becomes commercial product .

Well I think its easy to believe.... For starters I can only assume PC has a fuckton of Isometric Action RPGs. Besides Its going to be Overshadowed by Temple of Osiris anyway..... But then again it could follow in Van Helsing's Footsteps.

i was done witn top down RPGs 10 years ago. i am not playing this crap anymore. its always the same damn formula.

I've been keeping eye out for it a long time. Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition was one of the most unappreciated ARPG classics. I've been waiting 10 years for a sequel.

It's like, almost an entirely different type of game than Temple of Osiris (which I am also anticipating as Temple of Light was fantastic).

Anyways I grabbed the EA for Shadows as well and I agree, it is a really nice game. Has some fairly unique gameplay ideas on the standard ARPG/Diablo-clone formula. For an EA game it's also surprisingly well polished and looks really good.

Nope.... But considering the type of game it is I always hope for co-op..... I mean if its side scrolling, Top Down, Isometric or 2D then I pretty much demand co-op.... It just feels right.

Personally not an issue for me, but totally get where you are coming from.

Shadows has really unique gameplay with new and original ideas. It's not just another run-of-the-mill hack 'n slash.

When it comes to quality, you know the gaming industry is in a sad state of affairs when a game as good as Shadows is barely known and garbage like COD is hyped like crazy.

Exactly. We have movie games now. The need to do anything interactive is fairly antiquated.

@psx_warrior: i agree he shouldn't worry, but a 500 post level exists and mods typically enforce it independent of the thread's merit.

The more I play of this game, the more I can't believe how good it is!!

• Combat is great
• Quests are awesome
• Story is great
• Graphics are great

It's like a real actual RPG, not a non-stop hack 'n slash fest (nothing wrong with those). But it still has real-time combat. Slower-paced than Grim Dawn or Path of Exile, but still isometric perspective view. It is very original in that way. Also, switching between devourer world and normal world is very original as well.

I hope more people discover this game and buy it so that more games like this are made.

I haven't reached any boss battles yet. I reached sort of a mini-boss skeleton in the burial grounds that was casting some sort of magic, and it was very well done.

Trust me, even if you get the Early Access Pre-Alpha version of the game on Steam, you will NOT be disappointed. The game is extraordinary.
