SE: The next Dragon Quest is in dev. confirmed console game

Creator of Dragon Quest games confirms that Dragon Quest XI ( 11 ) is in development and that the creator want this new game to return to home consoles as the franchise 30th anniversary in 2016.

Seeing how FF Type-0 coming to the new generation of consoles i think we can be assured that the new DQ game will be on the same platforms ( hopefully SE dosent troll us and release it on last gen consoles ).

During an interview on the radio channel Mangaku – N Channel the series’ creator Yuji Horii confirmed that Dragon Quest XI is in development, and it’s planned for the 30th anniversary of the series, which will happen in 2016.

Even more interestingly, he mentioned that he wants to develop it the game for the “big screen” indicating that the game is most probably going to land on home consoles, even if no specific mention has been made of the actual platform or platforms.

So long as it remains true to the spirit of the series and doesn't get ruined by attempts at "modernization" so be it. DQ8 still remains the series high point. Even this compromised mobile port on my Galaxy s5 is still a great game.

Well it's a system seller in Japan so it's a big victory to whom ever lands an exclusivity of it.

if they know what they're doing, they'll say it's a PS4 exclusive so cows do all the free promotion for the game, talking it up on all the various game site forums and social media, then just before release say it'll be on Xbox One and Wii U to maximize sales

About DQ, I just wish it was more like DQ3/DQ8 than any other. And that it wasn't held back by Wii U's crappy HW but since the creator it's such a massive nintendo fanboy this is inevitable, it will be a nintendo exclusive. The only reason DQ7 and 8 were on PlayStation was because Nintendo's console sales were abysmal.

Good point, make it up to them during the late announcement by offering PS4 versions a cross-platform purchase that will allow for a download to their Vita... but only if they pre-order.

DQ success comes from Japan yet consoles are all but dead there. I'm predicting a PS3 release because any other platform and it'll likely not get localized.

PS4 is the most likely candidate. XB1 won't even happen unless it's ported over from the PS4 version.

DQ8 was on PS2 and the following DQ was originally slated for PS3, but that got cancelled. So there hasn't been a console DQ in something like 9 years.

A ps4 Dragon Quest game would be amazing. Especially with the few rpg games on ps3 last gen.

Still waiting for DQ VII for the 3DS to be released outside of Japan. But Japan can keep DQ X since it's a MMO which I don't like at all. Still a new console DQ game would be cool.
