RTS war!, Starcraft VS Command and Conquer

What game do you think is better, and for what reasons do you think this.

Me and a freind are fighting about what is the better game.

Let me put it to you simply.

StarCraft is like shining pure gold. Command and Conquer is like a gold plated ring with some common metal underneath. It's nice, but there's still better out there.

i have always liked the command and conquers better....especially generals......i HATE command and conquer 3 however....

Supreme Commander, but for that I have to say Command and Conquer, was my first RTS.

well as good as C&C is starcraft was like the Avro Arrow of gaming (for those who dont know what that is, its a canadain made jet produced in the 1950's and could go mach 2.5 and was WAY WAY ahead of its time as it can compete with the mordern day aircraft, the MK.III project was scrapped on black friday) Starcraft is muchliek that way ahead of its time, but vanished... well until 2day thats where these stories part...JAMES_L_BROOKS

I've beaten and lost in Starcraft under 5 minutes before.

I think for RTS it has pretty quick pacing.

What makes StarCraft better than C and C other than its a faster pace? Both I see are equally as competative, Generals and Tiberium Wars are the best IMO.Pro_wrestler

popularity, accesibility, balance, and pace.

also obviously Starcraft have high level of depth to seperate players with different level of skills or pro-gamers won't be making money by just playing games.

That's why Starcraft stands on top of RTS genre

The problem I have with C&C is that there is no real difference between sides aside from unit and building costs. As a result, I ended up getting bored and not really bothered factoring in which side I should be choosing. The series is fun, however, if only for the cheese only the C&C storyline can deliver. Believe me, it's hellishly cheesy in a good way.

Starcraft just did a better job with balance, story and uniqueness than the whole C&C series imo. Despite the lack of famous has-been actors, Starcraft's story and voice work was better executed. Not only that but Starcraft works better as a competitive game, with an easy to understand interface not bogged down by annoying aspects (Like C&C's Power system). Plus the action on screen is filled with more personality while remaining very clear about what's going on. The combat in C&C contain units so small, you wonder what the hell is going on sometimes in battle.

Starcraft wins in my mind but that's not to say C&C is not without it's awesomeness. However, if I were to choose, Starcraft wins by several miles.

C&C IMO.

Starcraft is better though.

Command and Conquer is my favourite RTS series

but im gonna have to go with starcraft/broodwar

A multiplayer RTS is about balance, and as for today no other company have the Blizzard's perfectionism. Unfortunatelly C&C isn't the same since the closure of Westwood Studios. C&C 4 can be very good, but it won't be as close to perfection as Starcraft II.

Starcraft is a masterpiece but Command & Conquer is at least 5 times better. Not only the C&C franchise has way more games than SC (which is just one game + three expansions and one of these even sucks) and they're all good, but C&C has a huge modding community and an even greater history than SC behind. C&C is better just because it has more games than starcraft, but in the end gameplay-wise and storyline-wise C&C is also better.

I love the command and conquer series :D but i never got the chance to play Starcraft. Will definately pick it up tho :)

Also, you are ridiculously wrong and misinformed. StarCraft is one game with one expansion and its mapper community is like fifty times bigger than C&C's, if not more.
