I'm leaning towards trying Read Dead Redemtion 1st, myself. Guess I'm a sucker for open world games. What about you? Are you planning on getting both on the same day? If so, which one will you play first?

Since Alan Wake flopped I'm gona buy RDR

It flopped because it got an 8.5? Your flop standards seem a bit high. it waz hyped AAA, if a game scored less than the hype it's a flop[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="KevinButlerVP"] Then I would see which one is betterKevinButlerVPSo are you saying you won't buy a game if it flops or you won't buy it now due to a potentially more successful game being released on the same day? since their coming out on the same day, and since we already know by reviews AW is nothing special and RDR has a lot more hype then yes I would buy the more successful game on that day Alan Wake is nothign special? So 8.5 scores are "great" :) But I can see as some of your post in the alan wake thread.

Definitely Red Dead Redemption. That game could very well be god tier if it delivers on all its promises.

How long it was in development for? : \ An 84 is good. Does this also mean (by this logic) that if GT5 comes out and gets an 9.5, Forza 3 is clearly the better game?

Did it fail as a game. Because I see a lot of games score 8.5 and have an 80 and up on metacritic and are still pretty good. Ohh It also seems like you've played it. How is it? Can I borrow it and get to play it early?

To each his own, though. I'm a bigDavid Lynch fan, so I guess it goes without saying I'm buying it for the atmosphere alone.
I'm stuck between buying it or renting it, seeing as my financial situation really only allows one - but my inner-gamer needs both :P May buy Alan Wake (simply to support Remedy, not saying that renting is bad, but I really would love for more Remedy games and good sales figures) then trade it when it's finished for RDR.Im just gonna rent AW, but im buying RDR. it looks to have a little more replay value if the multiplayer is as good as advertised

but AW flopped more, and had more hype and HR has a higher score than AWAW-Yes, I will buy this close to release date.
RDR-I am still not sure about this game. The latest preview on GS of a "very late build" of the game stated that it still had some technical issues. Maybe they (R*) will get these ironed out in a month. Or, the game will mirror its predecessor: ambitious scope with a number of annoying technical glitches that hamper gameplay.
Right now, for me, AW is the safer bet.
