F Blu-Ray F Online Browsing F Home...well not really I actually like it a lot but seriously I buy consoles cause of the exlusive games it has not because I can store pictures on it...Sony you guys really need to step up in the gaming section because thats where it matters I know I know its still early but when u lose games like DMC4, GTA4 and others and hear remarks about not really worring about getting exlusives it just makes u wonder.

Sony won because a) series from the PS1 helped reel in the loyalists (GT, FF, MGS...even Crash *cough*), and b) because they had the best games overall out of the competition.

Obviously there were a few other reasons (like GTA) but those are the main ones.

Sony won because it had the most games with mass0market appeal and it had the best marketing stratesy. It had nothing to do with the scores that Gamespot gave these games.SmashBrosLegend

My point was that it had quality and quantity...sheesh

1. No Competition: The only thing that the PS2 faced when launched in 2000 was a half way to the grave Dreamcast. This was CRITICAL, just like the X360, it gave the PS2 the breathing room needed to get it's supply issues sorted out and get some crazy good games out by the time the NGC and Xbox launched. I mean, when you are facing off against the likes of GTA 3, FFX, DMC and Onimusha, you might as well go into the battle with one boot off! Sony took away some of the Xbox and NGC's thunder right off the bat and never looked back Because no competition allowed them to prepare for the upcoming battle much more than MS or Nintendo!

2. One Year Head Start: As stated above, the one year head start gave the PS2 plenty of time to load up the big guns when the competition finally arrived. By the time MS and Nintendo join in the fray, they only found out that because of that one year head start, Sony used that time to tie their shoe laces together. When they went out of the gate, BAM, they hit the ground face first while Sony continued to run ahead! This time around, Sony doesn't have that luxury!

3. $300 vs $600. PS2 wasn't priced at a ridculous price of $600. 'Nuff said! PS3 will continue to languish on the shelves until Sony does something about that price!

4. Mass Market was ready for DVD. But right now, the Mass MArket ISN'T ready for Blu-Ray as of yet! BIG difference!

5. Great third-party relationship. Yes, developers complainted about the PS2, but Sony at least have good relationship with them. Same can not be said about the PS3!

6. Exclusives GALORE!!!! I mean, Final Fantasy, R&C, J&D, GTA, MGS, DMC, KH, SOCOM, GT, GOW etc, etc, etc. Yes, MS had Halo and Nintendo had Mario, SSB:M, etc. But no one and I mean NO ONE can beat that list! PS2 got not only the quality, but QUANTITY as well!

7. Dropped to the magical casual friendly price of $200 the fastest. BIG sticking point! Casuals are EXREMLY cost conscious, as Sony is finding out to their dismay on the PS3. PS2 dropped to $200 the fastest. Selling out the most to casuals when it did because it also had one hell of a game list by this time!

8. A Game Machine's Game Machine: Sure it had some multi-media features, but unlike the PS3, which is trying to be a master of everything but like the PSP, is finding out it's not great at anything right now (Firmware update after firmware update), the PS2 was STRICTLY a games machine. And that's it's greatest selling point. Eventually, it became a game machine among game machine alongside the likes of NES and SNES! One of my greatest console of all time! PS3.....Don't make me laugh right now!

9. Great Advertising and Marketing! I mean, compare "Live in Your World, Play in Ours!" to whatever Sony is coming up now! "This is Living"? More like "This is Waiting!!!!" (Yes, that was meant to be a joke!)

10. Sony Arrogance. Yes, Sony was arrogant during the PS2 days as well, but everyone, including me, gave them the benefit of the doubt cause of the PS1. Besides, Sony didn't fart stuff like "Next-Gen doesn't start till we say so!", "4-D", and "We can sell 10 million units without games!" During the PS2 days, Sony actually delivered. They are NOT doing that now and they STILL keep on churning shaznit out like if they don't care about the well being of their company! BIG difference that separated the PS2 from the PS3!

These are my top 10 reasons why the PS3 can't be compared to the PS2 and why the PS3 is flopping right now.
