What is it with short games nowadays? Game complanies tack on a multiplayer component and leave out half the game. Isnt itbad enough we're paying $60 for games now and then they make them shorter. I swear I'm starting to hate gaming more then ever.

Apparently running through it's around 10-12 hours long, but if you take the time and explore, it's expected to be around 20-22 hours long. So it's just a matter of waiting to see.

RE4 wasn't 20 hours long. It took me 16 hours to beat it the first time through and like 8 the second time through.

IGN said in the review its 10 hours long.

"If you plow through without scouring every nook and cranny, expect RE5 to last you between 10 and 12 hours. But if you want to uncover everything, expect to easily invest double that." So I would say expect 15-17 hours if you play through regularly

I guess they tried to "Westernize" it. I'm not a fan of this trend where Japanese developers are trying to appeal to the Western audience by shortening single player and focusing more and more on multiplayer. But that's just me :)

I'm getting the game just because of co-op. I knew the game wouldn't be AAA material as soon as I saw that everything about it was pretty much the same from RE4 except the co-op. If this game didn't have co-op I wouldnt get it. I see 8.0-8.5 on GS.

did you read what they said. They said if you rush through it and dont explore it takes about 10-12 hours, and if you explore every nook and cranny its double the length here i'll quote it

If you plow through without scouring every nook and cranny, expect RE5 to last you between 10 and 12 hours. But if you want to uncover everything, expect to easily invest double that. [/qoute]

I'm a little disappointed by the length actually. RE4 took me around 18 hours on my first run through and I would expect at least that with RE5. The addition of co-op means little to me since I'm not much of a multiplayer guy, especially in games like this. If Sheva ends up being too much of a hassle it could be a game breaker for me. I'm going to remain optimistic but I'm not expecting it to be as fulfilling an experience as RE4 was. The lack of atmosphere could potentially hurt it too, though I expect the big action set pieces probably make up for that.

God! this is what I hate with games nowadays, their shorter, more expensive and DLCs, some DLCs are okay and reasonable but mostly are just obviously a rip off and are just pure evil plan by developers

Personally I wouldn't mind, I might actually prefer it if the action is packed in tighter. Shorter doesn't always mean worse.

Let's not exagerate people. And... you don't have to wait for anything. You give her covering fire and she will make every effort to open the door.

Color me funny, but has there been a shooter whose average game time, under normal circumstances, exceeded 20 hours in the history of gaming? Everyone's complaining about games getting shorter and shorter, but I have to wonder if it's more a matter of perception than reality.

Companies are trying to do whatever they can do to maximize their profits. Making the game shorter and charging the same for them earns the companies more money for future projects. If you want longer games stop buying the short ones and if enough people stop buying the short games the game companies will be forced to make longer games. They will continue to make 10 hour games if you continue to buy them.

10 hours is the minimum playthrough, I doubt your average gamer is going to spend only that little time on it.

If you consider the fact that this game is highly replayable via co-op/online co-op, there's a lot of additional hours there.

To put things into perspective, an average RPG clocks in at around 20 hour, so RE5 isn't short at all.

Gamers have such high standards these days. No wonder developers are breaking their banks trying to create games, only to have them critized by ungrateful people who are impossible to please.

Took me ~16hrs to complete RE4 (which i've now played through 6 times) and ~12hrs to complete RE5 (which I will also be playing again). Both games are worth their weight in gold.

Shorter games are not a bad thing. I actually like the shorter games so far because I'm not tired of them going on for days to complete. I like playing Oblivion but that game goes on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.....

RE4 WAS 9 HOURS AT BEST. I beat it in less than 2 hours once, and my first pro run clocked at 6 hours. IT IS NOT 20 HOURS. ANd if it took you 20 hours, you should quit gaming forever.

RE4 was not 20 hours long. The first time I played through that game, which completely blew me away, only took 14 hours. And I was going quite slow. I've never done a speed run, but with many playthroughs thereafter, I believe my shortest time was around 5 hours (I wasn't trying to go fast though) But this is with unlimited handcannon, and collecting most of the treasures. I believe RE5 will be shorter. But then again it has co-op. Lets put it this way; I'm playing the regular single player by myself and then with my brother. After that I'll be playing through on veteran (Which ever is the hardest difficulty) by myself, and then again on veteran with my brother. Thats 4 playthroughs already. I've played through RE4 atleast ten times, and thats without coop. Giving the extras in RE5 and mercenaries, I'd expect RE5 to last quite a while for me personally. Especially if the games fun...

I beat RE4 my first time through on Gamecube Early 2005, in about 9 hours and change, and that was after messing around.

If RE4 took you 20 hours, I'm sure RE5 will take you 20 hours too.

Having spend maybe 3 hours playing and already being half way through RE5 won't last 10 hours. Even if you back track like hell you won't make this game last 10 hours, unless you die a lot.

This is why I'm up in the air about buying it. I love RE, but $60 for a 10 hour game is usually a no-no for me.

Then again, I tend to only spend an hour at a time playing games (except Fallout 3) and that artificially extends the time it takes for me to beat them. I'll end up flipping a coin or something to decide.

I beat RE4 so many times to tell you its nowhere near 20 hours long.

But ya, RE5 campaign seems a little short.
