RE 20th Anni: What's your favorite mainline Resident Evil?

The original game, that game is an absolute blast while RE2 is a close 2nd.

Great sale. I got Code Veronica X, The Umbrella Chronicles, and The Darkside Chronicles out of it.

Hard pick with the 1st 4, and maybe the 5th, but we all know where 6 should be - the trash.

I loved the first 3 games and the first one as my absolute favorite but after that not for me, I hated 4 so never played 5 and 6

I have played Remake, RE4, RE5, and RE6, RE5 was by far the best one. Such a good co op game. Loved it. And I'm aware my opinion is very unpopular.

Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 are my 2 favorite Resident Evil games. I REALLY can't wait till the remake for 2!

Aww, my favorite is Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Other then that i like Resident Evil 1 Remake on Gamecube and Resident Evil 4 and 2, then 3, 5 and Zero.

You shouldn't be creating threads like this where you think Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is a mainline game and Code: Veronica isn't, Nemesis is the spinoff, Code: Veronica is Resident Evil 3.

Resident Evil 2! Loved that game. Ok, full disclosure here, I only played the first one and part 2 so I'm probably not the best person to answer this. Those were good though.

I'll never rate RE4 beyond 7/10. I went for RE1 instead.

Resident Evil 2 is up there with Final Fantasy VII in terms all-time favorite games for me.

Man I still need to play RE3....
But for the rest of the mainline I'd probably go... 1 > 5 > 4 >2 >6

Didnot like any of them. early games were not very good and resident evil 4 has terrible controlling and gameplay in general.

Just because you don't like it and probably never even really played any of them doesn't mean it's overrated...

I try RE4 old one and then HD remakes. end up hating both of them.

Resident Evil 1,2,3 and RE Code Veronica....best RE games ever.

Loved 1, 2, 3, and Code Veronica. 4 was a huge disappointment for me and since 5 and 6 followed the formula of 4, I skipped them. 0 was decent, but not to the level of the first 3 games.

Let's see...

RE1 - Pretty good rip-off of Alone in the Dark. Hilariously cheesey tone and awful dialogue, which was fixed in REmake.

RE2 - Never played it. It never gets re-released on things!

RE3 - Meh. Too much of an acton focus, bad QTEs, etc.

RE4 - Generally excellent, although it's a really very silly game. Any slight amounts of horror were shattered by...you know, outrunning a giant mechanical statue of a kid in a Napoleon costume.

RE5 - Total blast from start to finish. Probably my favourite co-op shooter ever, and certainly my most played RE game. It does everything RE4 does but better, and Wesker is such a wonderful villain compared to...Saddler? Salazar? Those guys.

RE6 - Just as good as the previous two games. The gameplay and boss fights are the best in the series, and the game has a ton of content. The scope brings it down a notch though - some segments could have been trimmed or polished more.

Anyway, I guess my vote goes to RE5. It's certainly the most entertaining RE game - although admittedly a lot of that is characterised by great co-op experiences.

Storywise RE..because you're discovering the cause & the story..I can't just pick 1 lol..enjoyed most was RE1, RE2 & RE4...the rest were okay to WTF did you do, Capcom? => RE5 & RE6. I prefer my RE games as a single alone experience..not stuck with an AI partner who waste ammo or just bla bla bla. :P

Even though I feel REmake is the cream of the crop of the series.My favorite will always be RE3. Jill is my favorite character and it has hands down the best RE tyrant nemesis.

I really liked 2 as well, but it never got the first reaction/awe as I did playing the first game.

I only finished 4 so I'll go with that. Couldn't really get myself to finish RE1 and RE5 was just boring.

the 4th is a great game, but I didnt like playing it with Wiimote and numchuck. Did anybody else?

@Heil68: I hated it. I originally played the GC version and that's the best for me controller wise. I used the 360 pad on the console edition and the latest PC ultimate edition. It's still not the same.

How is 4 winning? That game was crap.

REmake is my favorite, was just so amazing.

Resident Evil 4 is my favorite. I play the hell out of it and Resident Evil 5. I think, however, that Resident Evil 2 is better than Resident Evil 5. I just don't believe that I'll ever play it again.

Well let's see, it's the best playing game in the series for starters. If that makes it a crappy game then I'd love to hear your opinions on the others.

Great mechanics, excellent boss fights, top tier encounter design, level design, and pacing. Not exactly the qualities that constitute a crappy game.

I get it, it's not traditional RE, or even traditional survival horror for that matter. It's an action game. People get pissy about it because it trespassed on their beloved franchise, even though said franchise was on its last leg.

I can understand people preferring the traditional RE style, it's a different kind of experience entirely. But those people should also understand that some of us like great video games and RE4 is exactly that.

RE2, REmake, RE4, RE:Code Veronica, RE3. RE5, RE6

The first two, along with Code Veronica. Those are the most effective ones. They were still sticking with many film techniques at that point.

The 4th one was the first Resident Evil game with controls that didn't suck.

Well the only RE games i actually completed was RE1, RE2 and RE: Code veronica..

Code veronica would be my favorite out of those 3 (Wish they would release this one on PC).

RE2, RE5, RE4, RECV, RE3, RE0, RE6.
