I'm afraid it's true! :o Merry Christmas Systemwarriors!
@Xplode_games: Why comparing an exclusive game to a multiplat game? Apples to Oranges here.
PUBG on PC is way past 26 million units sold, I haven't watch the video (not going to either) but I assumed it referring to the Xbox One version (blerghh!)
Sorry but I really dont see what the fuss is about. The game is as generic as you can get. Boring...
I don't understand how this is so popular... but I'm happy for the devs nonetheless. It's at least different from the COD+Battlefield formulae, and one of my friends does love it.
Not sure why you are comparing this with HZD sales numbers from June, but whatevs. It's still true that this has outsold HZD's 2.6mil in its first 2 weeks.
. It's still true that this has outsold HZD's 2.6mil in its first 2 weeks.
Is it though? The only Xbox One specific numbers I've seen are 1 million players in the first 48 hours. That doesn't necessarily mean 1 million sales, as one person can buy the game and a sibling or roommate can also play it on that console. Add to this that MS is giving free copies with an Xbox One X purchase and refunding past sales for launch buyers, this would be even fewer actual sales compared to player count.
Lmao...Lemmings twisting numbers of a second rate, flop of a game to try and make it compatible to what is arguably, the best new IP of this generation and one of the best games of this generation.
Keep living that 4k/12 dream..

You're what now??? Developers who put out poor performing trash like this need to die as all they're doing is proving to other developers that people are dumb enough to still buy trash and that is a message we do not want other developers taking note of.
@scatteh316: I didn't realize it was such trash. I've never played it. My friend loves it, so I assume the optimization issues can't be THAT bad. Still, I'm not throwing support behind a junk game or anything - just didn't realize it's such a mess when I wrote that
I dont think it is anywhere near 4 million on Xbox. I would say getting close or a little over 2 million because from what I understand Steamspy can get its numbers way off on games with a lot of sales. It is selling well but no way is it at 4 million. Sorry.
lol that crap guy is a real idiot.
"This is a real system seller" lmao.
like, No! No it isn't, it's just a game that was ate up by a bunch of starving gamers with no other games to choose from. The game is barely playable on xbox one.
What does this have to do with Horizon?
lol nothing, xbox fanboys are confused here.
They don't seem to understand there is a difference between a fanbase divided by having the options of choosing several high quilty AAA exclusives games releasing all in the same time period vs only having 1 high profile exclusive* being released at the end of the year that all the users of the system have to pick or do without anything special.

Basically MS was only able to put out 3 worthwhile on xbox one all year long and they all came smashed in the 4Q holiday season. One was a 2d indie title, the other was a yearly rehashed racer and the last was PUBG.
Pretty simple, one player base has many high quality game options that split sales and the other doesn't. Not difficult to figure out of something to brag about to be honest.
Tis the season to spin out of control.
The guy is an idiot really. Horizon Zero Dawn landed on the TOP 10 best selling games of 2017.
You wouldn't think the guy would be dumb enough to think the sales are still at 2.6 Mill when it launched back in February but he is an xbox fan
PUBG is massively popular multiplayer game while Horizon is singleplayer and geared towards a smaller audience. Not really fair to compare sales.
@asylumni: ah, perhaps not then, lol. Is this just another spin thread? Im on mobile so I can't fact check easily
TC's source is using the recent press release of 30 million players, subtracting SteamSpy's 26 million and assuming 4 million Xbox One sales and then comparing it to Horizon Zero Dawn's sold numbers from back in June.

People can game share this game with one other person. We can't assume all 4 million uses all purchased a copy either.

Just like we can't assume everyone who bought it shared it with friends, it works both ways.
Also not many people buy a game to share it with other people in the month of release.
For the record I don't care how many were sold, but there's some serious reaching in this thread.
Finally was able to play it. Gets pretty damn intense when the ring gets smaller. The stuff you spent doing before that is kinda boring.

Pretty much this. Was going to say something similar.
I vomited a little in my mouth watching that "crap" video. That dude use to be ok to watch. Always for Xbox but that's fine. This video reaked of insecurity. I wonder why he didn't compare it to Uncharted 4's sales numbers?
I tried watching some live streams on YouTube. For 15 minutes you get your character ready for a gun fight... You get shot, die, repeat another 15 minutes of finding random guns and gear, get shot, die, etc. I don't get it... Probably never will.
Xbone fans really believe what Crapgamer said? Didn't know that they are so dumb. LOL
Last steamspy recalibration was 3 weeks ago and added 2.5 million owners over 4 days. With new steam users only recalibrated every 3 to 4 weeks, the numbers are always off for a few million until the new users are added. Surely Steam numbers are 2 million off at least.
So Xbone numbers are floating around 1.5 mil - 2 mil. So, it's not 4 mil. copies sold on Xbone. And also, there a bunch of multiple accounts on XBL.

I'm not bringing that up to deflate the estimate. I'm just saying that we shouldn't hype a game as a "system seller" based on said estimates that re questionable.

So, what we really need to say in this thread:
Sony can't make any super popular multiplayer games after decades of trying, so they are limited to cinematic SP repeats.
Yup sounds about right.
@Xplode_games: Why comparing an exclusive game to a multiplat game? Apples to Oranges here.
Doesn't matter because it sold those 4 million on Xbox.

MS didn't make PUBG, hell they had to buy first on Xbox rights to even get a super popular MP game.
