The Wii needs less RAM because:

1) 1T-SRAM is faster than 360 (fixed =p)

2) Wii doesn't have to deal with as many pixels as a 1080p system like 360 (after Fall update) or PS3.

On a standard or 480p screen, Wii may in fact be able to do more than 360 or PS3 with this much RAM, but I don't see that happening at all.

also i heard that the wii streams memory faster then the 360 does, i cant vouch for that tho

lets not forget that the will has already proven to have superior graphics then the psp so i dont think ram is an issue.

The Wii can also technically dip into the 512 MB flash RAM for extra RAM, but this won't happen often, either, as a game wouldn't play if there is too much on the card.

It's not faster than the PS3 XDR RAM. PS3 RAM runs at 3.2 GHz.

Mega bits would be Mb. That thing you posted is MiB. Which has got to mean something else.

It's not faster than the PS3 XDR RAM. PS3 RAM runs at 3.2 GHz.

Only the main ram runs at 3.2 Ghz, the video ram runs at 700Mhz.

According to wiki u're lying

''The system has 32 MiB main RAM and 4 MiB embedded DRAM. The 4 MiB of eDRAM consists of 2MiB dedicated to the Graphics Unit and 2MB dedicated to the Media Engine secondary processor. There is no memory management unit for either CPU. No evidence of a TLB has been found. The co processor that normally manages the TLB-based MMU seems to be a custom effort by Sony and has no integrated memory. Both CPUs contain 16KiB of two-way set associative instruction cache and data cache respectively. There is additionally 16KiB of scratchpad RAM which, while faster than main RAM, is not nearly as fast as the integrated cache.''

''Although dubbed "PSP Slim and Lite", the PSP-2000 offers several other tweaks and improvements from the older generation. To target the original PSP generation's poor load times for UMD games,[7] the internal memory (RAM and FlashROM) was doubled to 64 MB to improve load times and accommodate for an improvement in the web browser's performance.''

Wii memory ram :

88 MiB main memory (24 MiB"internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package,64 MiB"external"GDDR3 SDRAM)3 MiB embedded GPU texture memory and framebuffer.

Do you even know what the ram is used for? if so, then you should know that the game won't look better because of the ram, or even run better (if the devs know how to do things). It may have more loadings though.

According to Lemmings....

if that were the case , they would have to admit that the PC is superior.

and if theres anything that can proove that the wii dosent need anymore ram is the Mario Galaxy game, textures look amazing, art style is pretty good, and has lot of diferent textures, alsio RE4 is a great looking game.

also a little reminder, that RAM dosent make a game nor a system, if you feel that 250$ is too much for a wii then its your call, i woudnt buy a 360 because i feel the same way about it so it all comes down to personal choice.

Yep the Wii is vastly overpriced. Even most games and especially the VC are overpriced too. I have no problem with the direction Nintendo is going they just need to stop being so damned greedy and giving a horrible value to consumers.

Oh, and because you got it from Wiki, be aware that they enforce a MiB = MebiByte (Mega Binary Byte), Mibit = Mebibit (Mega Binary bit) standard. So sorry TC, but you're talking out of the wrong orifice.

It is crazy that the Wii has comparable hardware to a HANDHELD device released 3 years ago. I have no problems with the Wii having weak hardware. I just find it annoying that a system can cost $250 USD when it is only slightly more powerful than the PS2 which costs half that price. If Nintendo charges $250 for the Wii, they would probably charge $1500 for a system with similar specs to PS3.

Uppercase B = Bytes

Lowercase b = bits

Oh, and because you got it from Wiki, be aware that they enforce a MiB = MebiByte (Mega Binary Byte), Mibit = Mebibit (Mega Binary bit) standard. So sorry TC, but you're talking out of the wrong orifice.

Did an american think of this? I understand they love abbreviations there, and it doesn't get much more complex and varied than this.

I don't know who thought of it, but obviously they never intended non-technically minded people to use the terms. It doesn't help that Nintendo did exploit the confusion to make the GCN's memory cards look bigger in comparison (Nintendo had always used the Mb abrv to refer to Megabits, though to the ignorant this difference in case doesn't mean much)
