PS4 was the UK’s best-selling console in 2014 and also the best-selling machine on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November.

It was also the best-selling console in the final week of the year and the best-selling across November and December combined, although it has previously been claimed that Xbox One was the best-selling machine in November alone.

Earlier today Sony said that PS4 has now sold 18.5m PS4s worldwide.

The most recent Xbox One count had the console pegged at 10m shipped, not sold, as of November.

MS second strongest market is now officially sonyland, rest of europe already is.

edit: yeah I thought that was weird, seems this sums it up:

Ps4 sold best on black Friday and the last week of December.
Xbone sold best the rest of the time.
The sales from ps4 were so great during its sales that it sold more than Xbone in Nov/dec combined.

I thought China was the strongest market for them, they have a 100% market share :).

I will still get a Wii U and gladly ignore PS4 as long as it ignores my gaming needs.

This generation was over before these consoles ever launched. The XBox brand is toast. Even with massive fire sales, the thing only has trction in the US and that market alone will not keep the brand ubiquitous. Not when it can only get a month or two out in front of the competition.

Um, yeah? I read that. Xbone sold more throughout November, PS4 sold more on BF and CM in the UK, and topped Bone sales when Nov and Dec are combined.

January sales are not out even for the first week so yeah last we know in UK the xbox one is been outsold.

It probably won December NPD in US alone and because of the price cut and freebies.

January NPD should be interesting since the uni is going back to $400 already in most store.

And in both the PS4 still is in the lead,so to little to late for MS.

Europe was always Sony territory so this doesn't surprise me. Always a job well done.

Your link is for November we are on january 6,his link is for the whole year and December where apparently the PS4 beat the xbox one and by a truckload considering that if you joined both months November and December the PS4 still came on top.

The smoking gun is the 10.5 million PSN subscribers. The accounts for PS3, PS4 and Vita. Every new console has a free month included so this should at least be close to 18.5 million since it is free. They fucked up and didn't cover their ass in the math.

...In the end every region matters. And you markets like that have a much bigger potential to grow, so actually they are very important.

Arrogance like that can cost you a lot of sales in this industry.

The 13.5 million figure comes from their 20 year PS overview thing, but they actually reached 13.5mil in September. So it would be 5 million consoles in 3 months. Which is plausible if you know they sold 3.3 million consoles from July to September (3 months), so including holiday season, it is realistic.
