I've been on the MS ban wagon since day one, over 10 years now. I have some concerns that Xbox 720 is not going to have hardcore gamers undivided attention. If Sony learns their mistakes from this gen, and maximizes upon their potential they will at the least convice me to buy a PS4. Anyway, who will cater more to hardcore gamers? We already know that MS maybe catering more for casuals but that doesn't mean they will spend less effort for the hardcore or does it?

PS4 undoubtedly, especially if you look at the last few years after Kinect(lol) was launched and what MS has given us.

Yes it sure seems that way. I hate how hardcore gamers are being taken for granted. We are the ones who buys all the DLC, xbox subsriptions or 600 systmes on Sonys end at launch, ect. We are the heart of the gaming industry. MS saw what Wii did and we are getting sold down the river. I may just have to respond by just getting a high end PC and giving all console the big F U. .

based off rumors ---- none of them actually , sony wants to go with move w a detachable controller , and they obviously dont have the resources for power

2ndly ms is already rumored to be working on a set top box version and an expensive version god knows next gen wont be cheap if they go for power

i say nintendo is the only one smart enough not to leave any bases uncovered!

Well, he has a point.

Consoles are mainly ment for kids and families and for people who rather watch games than play them, hence "causal gaming".

When I hear the word "hardcore gaming" I usually think of competitive gaming and competitive gaming is the strongest on the PC these days with games like DOTA, LoL, StarCraft, ect.

Only games on consoles that compare would be fighting games (not all, as for example the Mortal Kombat series are viewed upon as "broken trash" by the fighting game communities) and shooters like Halo and CoD, but those are played with tumbsticks which offer much less precision than a mouse and are generally seen as "noob friendly" among the shooter experts.

PC also has much more complex games like flight sims (DCS, FSX), mil sims/tactical shooters (Arma, RO), racing simulators ("proper" racing sims, not "arcadey" ones like on the consoles), space sims (the upcomming Star Citizen), deep strategy games (Total War series), ect.

So of course, for any serious hardcore gamer, the PC should be priority.

If you are going to get one of them two PS4 is the best option. Sony will probably try some kind of new control input and then cast it aisde should it fail. Kinect is here to stay and Microsoft will throw a lot of mini game collections instead of designing actual games. And force the control in as much as possible.

Basically every mistake Nintendo made with Wii.

They will both target the same audience as they are with their current gen consoles. They are not going to make drastic changes in their core markets. Sure we'll see more Kinect Casual fluff on the 720, but the 720 will still be primarly aimed at people that play COD and Microsoft 1st party franchises. Basically they will cater more to the people that are Xbox live Gold members.

Sony will make sure their next console is just as easy to develop for as the 720, so multiplats are on equal levels of performance. They will also expand their PSN+ offerings and hopefully create a totally new UI that is more user friendly.

$399.99 for PS4

$349.99 - 499.99 for 720.

I have a feeling the xbox launch will be horrible, halo 5 definitely won't be a launch title for it and the only games I can see being a launch title for xbox 720 are a forza game, kinect games, maybe a fable, and that's it. I think they might however make a special enhancement to the next COD game that is 720 exclusive though, I can definitely see that happening. PS4 will most likely be my console I'll pickup next year unless MS surprises me big time, and if they both suck then luckily I have my wii u and pc still lol

LOL!! There are actually MORE casually playing PC games then there are playing console games. There will be plenty of games for hardcore games on consoles. Why do you least most of the hardcore game sales are higher on console?

console gamers are always going on about hardcore hardcore? autoaim? pay to play online? limited control options?i hear convinience is key so does that make console gamers casuals?

im not saying pc gamers are hardcore not saying console gamers aren't just frustrating to hear console gamers all saying they are hardcore without having a decent gaming pc.

I think some people have a different view of "hard core gamer" then what it really is..Hard core gaming isnt what you play a game on OR even what game you play. Its about how well you know the industry, how long and how well you know a game, how many years youve put into gaming. Keeping up with everything..its not about pc vs console vs handheld..at all...

They're both going after that market, but I'd bet Microsoft would be willing to give up some hardcore gamers for a lot of casual gamers. Sony seems pretty focused on the people who love games and technology.

Well, assuming whatever they bring out works well and is successful, both about the same. They'll cater for casual gaming and also for gaming which has some depth to it as usual, which is extremely popular. Both systems should also be powerful enough to attract full third party support.

People have different definitions for hardcore and casual, but that's a different topic. To me it's all just relative anyway.
